Barnabas Collins - Yagher sculpt

#1 Post by derekc62 »

Here is my first completed project of 2025, Barnabas Collins.

This 1/4 scale solid resin bust is sculpted by Jeff Yagher and produced by Paul Gill, offered through the Yagher Army Facebook group.

I had a major setback on this one when paint started peeling from the original portrait when it was just a few brush strokes from completion.

I took a deep breath, stripped the kit and started over. The skin tones are an almost exact replica of the original, so I am pleased. (There's a short WIP in the Workbench section for those who may be interested).

I had intended to do a little sketch on the back but I have a couple of projects that are now taking priority so I may revisit the sketch idea another time.

Thanks Ric and Vlad :D

But for the SNAFU with the portrait I had a good time painting this one. I felt like I was in the 'zone' most of the time.

Beautiful work.
Helena is here at hand;
And the youth, mistook by me,
Pleading for a lover's fee.
Shall we their fond pageant see?

Thanks very much guys.

Trevor, I think I've spent more time working on skin tones than any other part of the painting process but a big part of getting close to where I want to be can be attributed to the lessons learned from watching the YouTube videos from the painters at Sideshow.
