Thanks Joe! I was a little nervous at first at how to go about it, but managed to pull it off in the end - completely agree that it changes the look in a much better way!

Another major update tonight (courtesy of the President's Day work slowdown ):

1. Used my magic putty (in a tube) to seal the seams on the 'bash;

2. Inserted LARGE Quikplastik/Quikwood plug into the neck and slid the big "backbone rod" into it;

3. Inserted small top rod pin to hold neck in place while the putty inside cured;

4. Drilled, adjusted with pliers, cut and fit into place six (6) rods spread out around the neck and into the body to hold the neck in place;

Next step: using PRODIGIOUS amounts of putty, fill in and re-sculpt the neck "into the body" - covering all of the rod pins in the process - texture and sculpting tool them.

Frozen in place the past few days and into Saturday ... temperatures in the 20s at night and the garage is probably in the high 30s ... WAY too cold for any progress ... Sunday is supposed to be 63 so I may be able to open the garage door, then fire up the space heater and get back to work ...

Joke's on you Scuzz ... I fired up the space heater to MAX last night and got a couple of hours of "detail work" in puttying gaps, bulking up the tail ... and (slightly) re-engineering the connecting wires between neck & body ... added two and will be replacing the others with thinner rods that I can bend into the body for a tighter "hold" ... pics to come ...

Sure you will sweating like rain.. but you might get it done

Quick update - stuffed some thick paper into gaps (to reduce the amount of putty wasted), drilled holes around the connect point to fill with and give putty some more "hold" on the vinyl when puttied, adjusted the wires. Finished 'beefing up' the tail. Next step - the puttying. Stay tuned.

After a lot of fiddling around, drilling holes for putty to go into, bending connection wires, inserting plastic rods to save putty from being wasted in the gaps ... the puttying has finally begun!!!!

You ain't kidding - that's why I keep stuffing things in the gaps ... at the 11th hour I remembered I had a few left-over bent styrene rods from the "Kong Up Top" builds ... in the nick of time!

Thank you! I kept working it, puttying it, til I was happy ... and the rubbery end piece extension from the Mattel toy really gives the tail "life" ... I will sand down the roughness of the putty once I am done puttying ... as well as putty up any left over uneven spots ... if you're at 90%, you might as well get it in the end zone - to mix metaphors ...

Vlad, Seeing your Dino builds makes me want to break out the vinyl Horizon models T-Rex I’ve had sitting in my model stash for… like… 60 million years.
I can see you sitting hunched over in your man cave, working on your dinosaurs, long after the rest of us have gone extinct.

Vlad, Seeing your Dino builds makes me want to break out the vinyl Horizon models T-Rex I’ve had sitting in my model stash for… like… 60 million years.
I can see you sitting hunched over in your man cave, working on your dinosaurs, long after the rest of us have gone extinct.

As they say - from your mouth to God's Ear I've had no time to do anything since the last update, so he sits and sits and sits there ... the only thing I get to do is point at him and say - on my way in and out of the garage going/coming back to/from work - in my best "old British movie Professor" voice:
"Look! Its a ... Sauroposeidon!" (As one of my oldest friends once told me - I am "an eccentric" I think that was a compliment? )

Seriously for a moment ... you guys talk to your models too ... riiight?
