Joe, I've been laid low during this bash with only the energy to lurk. That said, this is a great build. As others have noted the composition is great and you've nailed the color scheme. You gave the Dullcoat a real workout - I really like the mattness. And you must be the expert on the caramel base to claws, spikes and teeth. Anyhow the subject is, as promised, one badass SOB. The pairing with the Death Dealer promises to be sensational. As to me, off to the bench to my anemic endeavors!

Holy **** !!!!!

With all the threads I have to catch up on, I randomly picked THIS one and was NOT disappointed (no surprise there!)

This is absolutely STUNNING Joe.

  • (* I wish to point out that I am not biased at-all . . . Joe promising to box this up so it would safely survive shipping to me had NOTHING to do with it *)

Seriously though dude - AMAZING work . . . build / modifications / paints - EVERYTHING =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> :hot: Image Image

Your finished Demigorgon looks all that I have come to expect from your builds. Dynamic, ferocious and technically impressive. It looks marvelous.

Thanks for your preparedness to share and chronicle your builds and your very kind wishes. I wish you likewise my friend.

I am making the base bigger and taller so Demigorgon will be above the death dealer on Hell hound and aligns better with spear angle.
I am using and modifying the base from a Centaurian kit as the bottom portion.
I will add some skulls and bones to the base.
I also plan to build some type of connecting base between them.

Great choice! The demigorgon did look a tad low, and this fits the pose, as it's looking like it's getting ready to LEAP onto the Death Dealer, who is going to meet it with his spear.

Started cutting bases and middle terminal piece to connect them

Trick will be to have a seamless border between the 3 bases without having them permanently connected together.
Plan is to have Middle piece slide / fit under a slightly higher edge of the other 2 bases

They will be a little closer together than shown in the pics before.
However, I cannot make them too close together or the front view of each one will be blocked

Fantastic - I would just add a little curve to each side of the middle "fill piece" so that it doesn't stand out from the ends so much. Maybe with some plaster.

Making Death Dealer base less round
Making connecting piece less rectangular and more organic
Creating overlap for Demigorgon base and connecting base

Thanks Vlad!
So far so good. And after I add a little fake grass, it should look pretty integrated and seamless (I hope!)

Adding some various bones, skulls, and broken weapons .
Trying to make every skull different with some fractures.
This has been good for using various spare parts.
The base overlap system is working pretty good.

Thanks Vlad!

I think I am done adding skulls, bones and broken weapons .

Put some primer on to see it all tied together.

Ready to start drybrushing, painting the details, and adding the grass back on,

Making a few more tweaks
Removed the big creature rib cage from the shelf as it was too out of scale with both human skulls and dragon skull
Revised the corner of the Demigorgon base to make overlap work and blend better with middle section
Sculpting a few more leg bones for more visual interest and to make the base be more of a general bone yard versus all skulls

Finished adding bones , skulls and weapons.
Here is how the kits look on the new base.
Then did some initial rough drybrushing . Will go back and forth between drybrushing and washes. Then add the grass.
Lots of detailing to do as well.
