They have gradually been increasing in popularity, but the last 10 years has seen an explosion of fandom following an adjustment to the style of music they have released.
The earlier stuff (1st 2 albums etc.) was very weird (YMMV) - just not my thing, and was too OTT on the "satanic forces" angle (which has of late morphed into a much-subdued gimmick thank goodness!), but I love everything from the 3rd album (2015's "Meliora") onwards. My fave is 2022's "Impera" - which absolutely SLAUGHTERS everything else they have ever done (IMO), and is close to being my fave album EVER.
I wouldn't say that Tobias Forge was the best vocalist out there (that title goes to Lzzy Hale & David Coverdale for me). He made a REALLY bad job of the live covers he did of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Ozzy's "Bark At the Moon" at events earlier this year. I suspect it was a combination of nerves and lack of practice on the songs that contributed there though. But he is an amazing frontman, an extremely talented entertainer, a creative genius, and "thinks big". The musicians he tours with and the co-writers he works with are also of the highest calibre.
I wish they had come here for the "Impera" tour, but at least the set was recorded and released within a "movie" - "Rite Here Rite Now", most of which has been uploaded to YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... akEbIQ5_Az . . .
- . . . I never thought anything would knock Iron Maiden's "Rock in Rio" DVD off the top "live DVD" spot for me - but this DID!
Just a couple of selections from the above linked playlist (not my faves from this - but darn good fun) . . .
- This is 1 of the 2 tracks where they use “skeletal” backing dancers . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqGzOKm ... z&index=10
And this was a quiet interlude, with a separate stage in the middle of the audience, with a cover version . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4MklUJ ... Az&index=9

I've been following this fella for a while now - self-admitted AI generated, but even so - takes a fair bit of skill and time to pull this off at this level of quality.
He hits it out of the park 2 times out of 5 (I've bookmarked nearly 40 great ones over the last 4 weeks), and makes you wish that real bands had thought these up and performed them.
The one of todays that impressed me was this - THE EVIL THAT MEN DO - IRON MAIDEN (Mariachi Metal Cover in Spanish) . . .

This song has still held my attention.tay666 wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2025, 1:51 am Brand new banger from the Pretty Reckless!
For I Am Death - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWTNGMAH500
Heard it on the radio and have been playing it several times since I got home.
It is dangerous when it comes on the radio. I want to drive in a very reckless manner.
This song, and The Emptiness Machine from Linkin Park https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRXH9AbT280
both cause my foot to get extremely heavy. They also cause me to 'sing' in a very loud voice (which annoys the dogs when I have them with me
