Season 25 of what's on my bench.

A bunch of bench time today, but little progress and no photos to share.
Several hours were spent ducting my spraybooth outside. I still have one piece left to get. Apparently the flexible hose that came with the booth is a non-standard size. It doesn't fit inside or over the 4" pipe. Not even the crimped ends.
Since my spray table is on wheels and is mobile I need to have a flexible section to the vent line. So a trip to Home Depot tomorrow should get what I need.
One of the perks to my job is I got to bring home all the rigid pipe and fittings I needed for free. So, that saved me about $70.

As far as actual work on kits, I did some clear coats on some parts. Later, I did an oil wash on Zeke's vest. I did some clean up on something I plan on priming tomorrow once my venting is done (I have to test the spray booth, don't I ? )
I reorganized my WIP shelf and moved some stuff closer to reach.
I added anther little shelf do the bottom right side of the workbench to hold the container with my sculpting tools.

So, basically a bunch of prep work for things to get rolling tomorrow.

Again, not much time in the basement, I was out doing holiday stuff.
I did finish the spray booth venting.





And I tested it out.



Pretty darn good. I primed all 3 of those with a spray can and my wife never smelled a thing upstairs.

I also cleaned up the oil wash on Zeke.

Thanks. Building is building. And if I can build something to make my hobby life easier, I'm gonna take the time to do it.
Just like taking time to clean the bench and put stuff away every now and then so you can start fresh.

I got several hours in today. Not a lot of painting though.
Only thing I really painted was the rest of the claws/spikes on the kothoga. Also did all the mouth bits but didn't take a pic.



While I had the black out I did Zeke's eyes and add a bit more color to the control panel.


But that was about it for painting.
Most of my day was spent gluing, clamping, and disassembling.


Got all these base parts glued together now.
I got some sheet styrene. Cut out to fit. Then glued it to the bottom of the Ghost base. After that set up, I broke out some 2-part epoxy and glued the resin base down, and the side of the Prisoner base to the resin wall. While also gluing the Prisoner base to the sheet styrene.
Tomorrow I will trim the sheet styrene and add some putty to a few of the gaps. Then put the window in the Ghost wall.
Then that base should be ready for primer.

The rest of my time was spend disassembling the Monsters of the Movies Wolfman kit that I got in the mail yesterday.


Thankfully, it wasn't glued, so some careful prying got everything apart. So now I can glue it back together with no gaps and clean up the seams before I prime over the paint.

Tomorrow looks like another build-heavy day, with little painting going on.
One of these days I will get out of the rut and actually put a sponge, paper, and water back in my wet pallet and start painting again.

As predicted, today was a building day.
Trimming the sheet styrene under that multi-kit base. Puttying up the joints.
Started gluing up the Ghost and the Prisoner.





I always forget how time consuming the assembly and prep actually are.

I used to feel that way, but as I have gotten better at painting, I enjoy it more.
I still like the building part, but sometimes I just want to 'get it over with'
Stuff like combining those bases and getting that all together, that is fun. That is a bit challenging and enjoyable.
Putting all the fiddly parts on the Prisoner, and cleaning up all the parting lines and seams. Not so much.

And that was most of my bench time today. Cleaning seams and gluing more stuff together.

Tomorrow I hope to prime a bunch of the pieces and keep my fingers crossed that I don't have to go back in and scrape more seams.

Last Friday, (Halloween) I was feeling 'Build- mode' but as I already have several unfinished projects going on....Meeeh, But last year I started re-collecting the old monster kits for going B @ W but mostly for the old Glow in the Dark boxes. But there was one kit sitting in the box on the shelf that was perfect! My fave from the series. I just glued it together raw in all its original glory!

I have one of those that I have been debating on keeping or selling. It's built, has no base, and has some red paint in a few places.

Nothing at the bench yesterday. Chalking it up to after holiday blues.
Today though I spent more hours cleaning up seams and parts. Man, so much flash on the bones of the Prisoner kit. Cleaning up all the finger and toe bones was tedious. Have most of the Ghost assembled now. That is going together like a dream. Just have to clean up the excess glue at the seams, which doesn't take long.

Also primed a bunch of the small detail pieces that are done, as well as the arms, legs, head, and base for the Wolfman. Gonna need to do more putty at the base of that tree. I can still clearly see the joint.
I forgot how nice it was to prime with lacquer through the airbrush. So smooth, so silky, so easy.

Then I did a full tear down of the airbrush as it has been a while. Figured best time would be while I had the lacquer thinner out.

Another day of boring stuff.
Cleaning seams. Checking the parts that I primed yesterday and doing work on the pieces that showed they needed more attention.
Then re-priming them.
I also primed the base for the Prisoner/Ghost.

Bench break today.
I went back to work today after 11 days off, so I was kind of 'meh'.
Then I brought in the rest of my Halloween decorations.
Still not all put away, but everything is inside now and drying out before being put to rest.

No actual bench work to report.
I have been busy this week dealing with putting away Halloween stuff, as well as planning, and starting to execute some 1:1 projects in the basement.
Ever since I started selling some of my kits, my basement has become a mess. It started with me saving boxes to use for shipping. Trying to pile them up and keep them out of the way has gotten out of hand.
Then the additions to my Halloween collection just exacerbated the issue.
Basically I bought two life-sized skeletons that I needed to find a home for. I figured out where I wanted them to go. But I had to move something else to do that. Which I figured out. But while looking around, and sorting all that out, I had the idea to help organize and clean up my basement. That way I can free up the flat empty surfaces I actually need for other things besides empty boxes.
That idea was a bit more shelving, which required some more building materials which I purchased after work yesterday.
So far, I have the skeletons stowed away (which freed up my workbench)
I have the skeleton of the shelves built, and got my plywood pulled out from behind that big shelf I built this past summer.

I do have a small bit of bench progress. I did paint the new base for the Plutonium Crew and gloss coat it. I also gave the Prisoner/Ghost base another coat of primer as there was still some stuff showing through.
