SDDC 2010

#1 Post by scuzzfink85 »

4 day pass has sold out????

What heck is wrong with people?

They don't even have definite guest list yet.
In reality they should change it to entertainment con
because comic title is a lie.

I am sure glad I don't go to these things anymore.
my idea of fun is not, being in between a bunch unwashed nerds
In there crappy tight fitting costumes.
in overcrowed hot hall.

To keep Comic-con (and the millions of $$$ that flow into the city during that week) San Diego has plans to expand the convention center by 2015. Also, hotel workers in Anaheim are in the midst of a labor dispute & have warned Comic-con not to come there, so it's anybody's guess where the future of the Con lies. Personally, I think it'll stay in San Diego...

I hope it moves to Vegas!

Please don’t get me wrong…I love San Diego! But the show has simply out grown the venue, and the hotels available!
I have gone for the last 5 years! The hotel lottery system is the biggest freak’n joke! I got on-line with everyone else, when the designated time was set to book a hotel room. They had you select your top, I think, twenty hotels in the order of which you wanted to stay. Then submit it, and about six hours later they would let you know which hotel you got into. Well I heard back six hours later with an email saying congrats you have booked a hotel for SDCC!!!! I was like, alright! Then I looked closer at the hotel listed… first off it wasn’t even a hotel that I selected, and secondly, it was a hotel 10 miles from the convention center! With no shuttle or service to the convention! Needless to say… I am not attending this year! :(

Please MOVE the show to VEGAS!!!!! Plenty of large venues, and more hotel rooms than any other city in the world!!!

i'll be there and this will be a pivotal year whether or not we attend again. although we get in free and can write off the trip it's fast becoming a chore. the hotel set up is definitely a joke as we didn't hear back at all. luckily (but not sure if it's actually luck), we found a room at the W. (thank gawd they broken the rules and had set aside some rooms). i'm all about swank n stuff, but not when i'm forced into it!!!

i'm mainly into artist alley and the independent tables in the back (and my biggest guilty pleasure of the cosplay 'participants').

it'll definitely be a big disappointment when the event starts and suddenly all these hotel rooms suddenly open up.

i feel the event has outgrown San Diego and will be in Los Angeles in a couple of years.

Like somebody said the mainstream media with pushing
crappy tv shows and movies have ruined the con.

They need to limit ticket sales to avoid zoning laws
it can't legal to have that many people in one place

It should moved out, and use a phrase, cut out the fat.
From what I read it's like giant pressure cooker.

This will collapse under it's own weight, if they don't
change it.

Comic-con is becoming less and less about comics and more about advertising crappy movies and tv shows. Used to be they advertised scifi or superhero movies and that was ok. But now they're pushing all types of unrelated tv shows and movies.

I DVR 4 hour coverage on G4 and seen about less then 5 mins of Comics, pre paints
and figures.

They were to busy with interviewing and showing people dressed up in costume. Waste
of DVRing 4 hours. Fast forward through most of it.

I wasn't that smart. I sat through all four hours. Mostly a waist of time. I used to dream about going to this show one day but know you couldn't pay me to go.

Just got back. First time for me. The show was incredible !!! Exceeded my expectations, which were high to begin with. My whole family enjoyed it and had a great time in San Diego vacationing for the week. I'll be going back in the future!

I guess it's more about costume contest and less about namesake.
Guess they feel the doo- dah & gay pride parade is not enough.?

Ugh... think I may not go back next year. Attending for the past 6 years strait and starting at the 2009 show, it kinda lost its magic for me.

Preview Night 4-day passes supposedly sold out during pre-reg this year.

this year was a definite pivotal year for us as well.

really hated how they now handle the hotel situation as we didn't get one at first; luckily, my wife was tenacious enough to call after we didn't get a message that a room was found 'n held for us and that the westin set aside rooms (even though they weren't suppose too).

depending what kind of shenanigans they pull this year (my wife gets the professional pass and heard that they may be doing away with the assistant pass; that wouldn't be a problem as i wouldn't mind buying a pass, but we wouldn't know until after they go on sale), we may not be going anymore.

the show room floor was kind of lackluster and seemed to be a repeat of last year. i don't normally go to the panels as i truly value my time (along with my eyesight; i know, bad joke on what happened) as those lines are insane, but think next year would be the time to do it with all the movies coming out: avengers, captain america, thor, etc.
