The addition of the chains on the demon is very cool!
I really like the color scheme of the dragon.
That oil wash worked great !!

Thanks again for the great job you do maintaining the clubhouse website!

I second Joe's sentiment on the chains that you put on the demon! Super clever idea the way they both are linked to one of his horns! Looks super cool! 😍

With an oil wash, you put it on and let it dry for a while.
I let it go a whole day.
Then you wipe off with some mineral spirits. I used a rag, and some small sponges to get in the tight areas.
The mineral spirits will take off the mostly-dry-but-not-yet-cured oil paint. Mostly from the high spots, but if you want to take more off, you just have to wipe a little harder to get down further into the low areas.

I was really hoping to have some pics to post today.
I was also really hoping to have wrapped up a few kits this week.

Neither happened.

I have a written checklist of the things I need to do to finish the 5 kits I have close to completion. I made this list on Tuesday at work.
This is Saturday evening. I have crossed off 5 things. I still have 14 more to go ](*,)

I just want to hobby and finish my contest entries and life keeps getting in the way
Overtime at work because we are extremely short handed. All the technical issues going on here. So many hours spent brushing out animals because our two dogs, and two cats, all decided to start shedding their winter coat all at the same time. We are looking at some really warm weather next week, so I need to get the 3 ACs put in sometime in the next 2 days. And today, the dishwasher decided to die. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Again.
(it pulled this crap two or three weeks ago and I managed to fix it. Not this time) So I had to devote time to shopping for a new one (which will be here Wednesday. Then I will have to hook it up, after I pull out the old one.
More time I don't have. More money that should have been for buying models at WF.

Ok
Enough bitching and moaning.
I'm gonna go make some brats & tots for dinner.
Then I am going to crack open a beer and go sit in the basement and finish the kit that just needs glued and get the next one ready for final gluing.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have some pics to post.

Brats, tots, and beer 👍😎🍻

Please do not worry about the minor issues here in the clubhouse Trevor , focus on getting your kits done.
We can wait until after Wonderfest for you to address the minor issues.

Good luck!

I got some good work in last night.
Very productive. But of course I didn't end up working on half of what I thought I would. Noticed other issues that needed addressed that led me in other directions. I was even back down there this morning before I had breakfast so I could hit a couple other things. Then give other stuff clear coats, so I can work on the next steps this afternoon. I hate having to putty joints this far into the process, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Also, I love the results of using the speedpaints with an airbrush, but they are so delicate. Even with the number of clear coats Smaug has had at this point, it still has issues with spots rubbing off.

This is not my weekend.
:smash:

Apparently I got a bad tube of 2-part epoxy glue.
Image

Glued a bunch of stuff today, and none of it set up at all.
So I got to clean all the "glue" off of 4 different kits.
After I get done eating I will go back down and make sure there is no residue left, then I need to see if I have any more epoxy glue.
Really don't want to rely on super glue.

Yeah I know, but I swear by Loctite "Powerflex" gel glue. There is an ebay seller in South Korea that has the cheapest prices. I don't know whether it's sold in the USA, but if it is it's got a slightly different name, and I'm not willing to risk it.

Buying it from European sellers tends to be pretty exorbitant. I was pretty pissed off when they dropped the "Super Attak" logo from the product. :rolf:

Oh, man, that’s a Bummer.

I have had that same glue issue happen a few times.

How did you clean the glue off?

Good luck!

Online most recommendations were mineral spirits or acetone, I used turpentine, as I felt it was less chance to take the paint off and I had it on hand. Also it doesn't smell bad, and I had the dogs down there with me. Lots of paper towels and Q-tips
It all came off and I found a big tube of 30 minute epoxy to use. It was already open, so I knew it worked last time I used it.
And it did work!

I have one of the kits done now!

Web page coming eventually,

This one is super close. It's all glued together now. I just need to touch up the swords. Add another magnet for the sword on his back to keep it upright.
Clear-coat then gloss the eyes.

Just have the eyes left on this guy. I got some drybrushing and pastel work done. Magnets installed to hold it to the base.

That demon looks absolutely awesome! Is that a scene from a game or a movie? Who's the little guy supposed to represent - the sacrifice? :rolf:

The big head guy with the kid on his shoulder is also absolutely beautiful! :thumb2:

Can't wait to see the rest of your WF pieces. :drool2:

Wow, the demon and night king look really cool!

Especially great job with the blue skin tones as blue is not easy to make look so realistic like you achieved !

It's from an episode of Doctor Who. And the little guy is the Doctor.

That is The Hound and Arya from Game of Thrones. It's a caricature sculpt by Andy Cope for Needful Things.

Thanks.
It helps when the resin is already almost translucent blue. I just used that to my advantage.

Well, I was hoping to have some more finished pics tonight, but sadly the Aves let me down.
I mixed some up to use to attach the tongue to Smaug. I had drilled out the connection point inside the mouth to add a pin. So I put some Aves in there and inserted the tongue last night. Checked it tonight and the tongue just flopped around :(
So, I opened it up a bit again, and filled it with 2 part epoxy glue. We'll see how that goes.

Once the tongue is attached it's just a matter of glossing the eyes. Also need to gloss the eyes on The Hound & Arya. But I am going to wait and do both at the same time.

So, hopefully tomorrow.

I use milliput instead of aves but have had that same issue just a few times where it never set up.
Probably due to me not mixing the 2 parts properly ?

Sounds like you are very close to being finished for Wonderfest entries - good luck !

Oh, it set up, it just didn't bond the two parts together. I've used it before for that purpose and never had a problem.
Not sure why it didn't cooperate this time.

I will have more pics tonight. After I eat dinner I'll be heading downstairs.
