Question on the Chrome... from what I can see, there is no fav list like you have with IE. So, how do you save stuff or am I missing something?

Now I just buy IBM refurbs because they're a quarter the price. Keep them clean and install Chrome, Opera or Firefox and they'll fly.
Agreed, I do love Macs but I just cant justify the price difference, I can get a a PC that FAR exceeds a Mac performance wise for less money, you just have to treat them with a little more TLC :)

Well, I also like the wireless mouse and keyboard, not to mention not having an obnoxious tower sitting on the floor! To each their own, as they say :D .

You are right Brian, tower PC's are fugly! it sounds silly but I don't use a wireless mouse and keyboard (I could if i wanted) because I play games on my PC and the microseconds of latency from a wireless device can make a difference :D

The tower is a pain. Brian, no arguments at all from me, just really a price/utilitarian issue . I'm a big fan of Steve Wozniak and old school Apple. :D

I don't bother with refurbs, I just buy kits and build my own.
That way I can get all the goodies I want, and not bother with stuff I don't.
Just have to supply my own operating system.

I've got so many ports in the front of this new system it's rediculous
8 - USB 2.0
3 - USB 3.0
1 - Firewire
3 - SATA
& 5 card reader slots.

Can't remember what I have in the back.

here is the thing- every time you reset to factory settings, it is gonna THROW OUT every windows update you have pulled since the last time, and, then, as soon as it is able, it is gonna pull ALL of them, plus whatever new ones you have waiting (typically, MS patches and updates go on thursdays), so, it is gonna CHUG while it is pulling ALL those upgrades back in. Each time, you will get more updates as time goes on.

I support browsers as part of my job, each and every day. Frankly, I don't see much difference in ANY of them. If you like Chrome (which, btw, maliciously changes setting when you uninstall), go for it. If you like firefox (which, btw, updates as much as IE), go for it.

The best advice I can give, is try not to run your PC with full permissions and rights. LEARN how to use the UAT, and make it do what it was intended to do. If you get a virus (and most of us know darn good and well where most viruses come from- (say no more, say no more!)

Frankly, I don't know who told you to wipe the system back to factory, or what benefit there is, I can see none. I have been wrong before, but...)

My HP instructions recomends factory reset once a year. I started doing it every 6 months when my free Norton would expire, then I'd get it back.
Still using Firefox and happy with it. I recently read all about the IE problems and installed IE11 just so I can watch my cheat site, (Channel 1 Let Me Watch This).
Speaking of.....I have to fight the pop-ups before finally getting my show which I'm sure is'nt healthy for my PC, but I never download anything. Just 'continue as free user'. I dont download music or download anything for that matter. I just do Netflix, youtube, a radio station or google pictures. Thats it. And I never open any e-mail that i dont know.
So outside of the free movie thingy, what actions or sites are you most likely to get a virus? I'm sure I've had something along the way but never anything serious to my knowledge. All my slowness started around January this year, primarily my e-mail and Yahoo articles. :?: :|

Porn is obvious. When I look for images like X-men, there's always smut of the characters engaged in whatever with 'the Simpson's'.

Works fine for me through firefox, I needed to select it on the drop down box and then it opened in Windows media player

Tay666... that was the approach I was going to take... build one to my specs... I agree there is not enough USB in the front of computers for my liking! But my biggest problem was trying to find the right tower case. Even tired looking for it on line (newegg) but no luck. So I broke down and bought off the shelf plug in ready.

I wanted to go with a SSD for the operating system and still have a hard drive for storing my pics, music, etc.

Would like to talk about this, off site to see what ideas you can pass over to me.

I just search Tiger Direct whenever I want to do any type of computer upgrading.

Here is thebase kit that I stared with for my current build.
Though they were running a better sale then. Got mine for $389.
I am happy with the case, though I was hoping to find a barebones kit that included this case.
