I rarely walk out of a theatre angry. At least the Marvel movies don't insult our intelligence as this dreck did.
My sister who has no comic history thought it was at least entertaining.

Re: "Dawn of Justice" Early Reviews
I think it looks like I'm getting my wish. Ben Affleck, humiliated by the reaction to BvS, has been made an executive producer for the Justice League movie. Warners is shaking up its executive structure. Rumors are circulating that Zack Snyder is being phased out of controlling future DC Comics films.Todd P. wrote:D'you suppose it's too late to at least put a leash on Zack Snyder? Not that doing so would necessarily help; Christopher Nolan was supposed to steer him to a good Superman movie and we ended up with Man of Steel.
This is not the kind of news I generally follow closely, so perhaps I've missed something. I do know BvS has made money, just nowhere near as much as expected. Also nowhere near as much as Civil War. And, given that some of the stories I've read suggest that Warners now thinks it needs to take the R-rated Deadpool route, I'm not convinced I'll be any happier. Deadpool may be a wonderful film, but Deadpool isn't Batman or Superman.
Still haven't seen BvS and probably won't for quite some time, but I'll own up to a couple things I apparently got wrong. Ben Affleck is, according to most reports, a good Batman, but I still hate much of what I've read about his actions in the movie. He brands criminals, for crying out loud? And he's a killer?
Gal Gadot is supposedly wonderful as Wonder Woman, which is nice.

Re: "Dawn of Justice" Early Reviews
First, let me say I liked Dawn of Justice a great deal. I look forward to getting it on DVD so I can view it more closely and get even more out of it. It is very much a story of personalities. Clark Kent (yes, Kent, not Superman) seems genuinely concerned about people on a human level. He is troubled by the brutality displayed by Batman (branding and commando style combat). We see the Kent character as not just a "disguise", but a real person. Kent is young, romantic and idealistic. Now Superman, he doesn't even pretend to be human. He appears out of nowhere (truly super-fast) and disapears without a trace, floats above everyone, and gives commands. He does not see the risks of becoming a diety. Batman does, because he is hardened, cynical and at this point in his life, is never backing down from anyone. Affleck is the toughest Batman ever. Batman forces Superman's respect for humans. It is only on this foundation of respect that the Justice League could be founded. Batman is also transformed, regaining compassion, optimism and trust to allow him to work with others. No more branding. Dawn of Justice is about becoming human, and regaining humanity.

Affleck was fine in the role and he's a fine director too. There are rumors that he may direct the next Batman solo movie. The sooner DC can get Snyder entirely out of the picture the better.Todd P. wrote:I think it looks like I'm getting my wish. Late to the party as always. Got this on red-box today. Really? Honestly after all the hype? This 5hit is horrible! I wanted to hang at least till Wonder Woman, but ejected the disk after two words.... Lex Luthor! I wouldn't wipe my a55 with a free poster!

Re: "Dawn of Justice" Early Reviews
I checked out the theatrical cut (only one available) from my local library and disliked it, which of course I was predisposed to do.
My impression of Affleck was that he did a fine job portraying Batman in a way I found awful, much as Chris Evans was good in his portrayal of a Human Torch I despised in two Fantastic Four movies. That's what the director, I suppose, wanted so that's what the actor gave him. The BvS Batman manages to be sadistic, murderous, grim and dull all at the same time.
Wonder Woman was fine, especially at the moment you first see her in costume (the music made it for me), but I'm not dying to see more of her. And what was the deal with the energy burst that blew from her bracelets when she banged them together? Reminds me of the super-cellophane "S" from Superman 2.
Lex Luthor and Doomsday ... ugh.
Was Superman in the movie?
Ah well, maybe Justice League will be better, but the first teaser underwhelms me. Doctor Strange is the only upcoming comics film that really has me interested.
