Whatever floats your boat, mach. I'd like to post photos on HobbyTalk, but all of a sudden I'm getting error messages that say my pics aren't valid valid files. Since when aren't .jpgs valid image files? I'll have to email the managers and see what can be done, or start posting photos elsewhere.

Well with the New Look, one supposes these little issues will happen. I've written to the current Powers That Be. They've been very supportive in the past and I presume they'll help with this current glitch.

The base should be in Friday really looking forward to it . Thank you Chuck you had a great idea that compliments the kit. I m not savvy with pics but I have all the half s together I dremmeled off the O2 lines and tapped the tanks to connect them to the helmet filled in the pouch with aves as well. It was a nice break running the seam with the suit seam. I really like the color of the gloves on mach7s Kit. I have this build on hold for a few weeks until I finish my Hawkman kit . I cleared all 8 kits I was working on to finish one at a time. The dog is chasing his tail no more.

Haven't done much more on my build, but I did do this little adjustment, following the lead of my friend Yasutoshi Hase... I glues a small piece of styrene into the arm hole and Dremeled it down, so his left arm now is moved back in a more natural pose.

Nice tip on the arm! I never noticed.

I've slowed down a bit.

All I've done is get a couple of coats of Red on Flash.

I received the base it is great I recommend it for everyone. So I researched the light bulbs to replace the globe. I bought two. I watched a YouTube video on how to cut one in half with a dremmel .....it did not work got a big crack in it before I barely made a dent. My next thing is to try a bottle cutter tool or ask someone who works with glass for advice. Any ideas are welcome.

billie,

I don't want to rain on your parade, but I suspect you'll have to go through a lot of light bulbs before you get a usable helmet, if ever. The glass is very thin and brittle; even an experienced glass worker would have a tough time cutting it. I still think your best bet would be to minimize the seam as best you can and let it go at that.

I just received my Thunderboy Heavy Industries base. Ditto what everybody else has said about it X 2! Pictures truly do not do the kit justice. Get one for yourself - it'll make the pain from your helmet seam go right away!

UPDATE: As we end the first month - and the first quarter - of The Great Flash Gordon Invitational Community Build, I'm happy to report that we have ten participants so far. On the HobbyTalk Modeling Forum, there is: ark undertaker, cajjunwolfman, deadmanincfan, mach7, Mark McGovern, rkoenn (who has already finished his model!), Roy Kirchoff, and scooke123. Several of these builders are also members of this forum, but billikenmonster is posting exclusively here. Finally, Roktman on the IPMS/USA Figures forum has stated his intention to join the community build. We also have a few guys who are following our progress even though they've said that they can't participate; we're happy to have them along for the ride.

There's been a lot of activity on the HobbyTalk forum http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/13-modeli ... ild-4.html, and interest shown at the FineScale Modeler http://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_su ... 71143.aspx and IPMS/USA Figures http://forum.ipmsusa3.org/index.php?/to ... ity-build/ forums. The Universal Monster Army forum has been quiet, but I'll keep them in the loop, anyway.

Boy, that Robert Koenn's a ROCKET, isn't he? Built his up at warp-speed!

deadie - I mean, Hallie *oy*,

Yes, Mr. Koenn is a fast worker, but one doesn't think of "rockets" going at warp speed...

Well as noted above I did mine in a week and a half. I bought the Thunderboy base from Cult at WF and decided it would be fun to do this one for myself and for the group build. It is a fairly easy kit but as you will note when you build it, more or less 1960s molding technology. There was more than the usual fit problems and seam filling but it wasn't awful, just not up to current quality. The base really sets this model off and I would almost dare say is required. The kit comes with a large Flash base and small alien base so the Thunderboy gets it all on one base rather than two. I'll post some of my progress shots and then the completed model.

Flash parts being assembled.

Thunderboy base being prepared.

Seams on Flash which were a bit nasty.

Here's the Thunderboy base with preliminary painting.

More done on the base.

Some painting on Flash's head.

The base almost complete.

More painting done and a quick look see.

And the completed model.

Actually a retired rocket scientist/engineer. I had a 36 year career with NASA and did the entire shuttle program from before STS-1 through STS-135. Here's our team on the runway after the final landing where we did our post-landing measurements and inspections for roll back. I'm second from the left and the guy on the far right is Bruce Melnick who is a retired astronaut who flew two missions as a mission specialist. He wanted to be on the runway for the final landing so I managed to get him aboard our team and he helped us out with our work before hob knobbing with the crew.

Flash is almost done.
All I have left is his helmet.

Image

My original plan was to hit him with a dull coat but now that I see him all shiny
I kind of like him.

Any thoughts on a shiny VS dull flash?

Great job with a different color scheme. I wonder who will be next to complete it?
