Joe Dunaway's incredible build of this beast and went for a reddish brown terrain rather than grey rocks as it contrasts nicely
against the blues and greens of the Alien . . .
Killer (no pun intended) job on that base Paul.

LOL on the inspiration - I own that very buildup :)

Many thanks for the encouraging feedback everyone! Ian, you were pivotal in me getting hold of this kit for which I'm truly grateful and you are a certainly lucky man to own that buildup by Joe!

It's such a beautifully crafted piece of work and my 'go to' reference for inspiration. I'll certainly never get near Mr. Dunaway's talents, but when in need of a guiding light I may as well look at the best out there!

I've just got the Predator up on his feet and fixed in place, so we are finally closing in for the kill on this. Not as painful a process as I was expecting,
although the paint work around his lower legs took a beating while I held him steady as the epoxy set, despite wrapping him in tissue first to cushion the pressure.

So, a little bit of touching up to do, final washes and weathering on the armour, adding tubes, wires, Alien drool etc. to go.

Cheers for now,
Paul

Finally finished this bad boy! Really enjoyed the build, although he's been quite a challenge. Rendering all the different surfaces of armour, skin, netting, leather etc. but great fun.

This has been on my grail list for a long, long time and only happened because of Ian's help putting me in touch with his buddy Mark. A huge thanks
to both of you once again and sorry it's taken so long getting him finished. The day job kept hijacking bench time, but we got there in the end.

Here are a few quick shots of the final piece, hope you like him, I'll try and get my son to shoot some better ones for the museum.

Cheers,
Paul

Well wouldya just LOOK at that! Image

What an amazing amount of detail packed into such a small(ish) sculpt.

The weathering, the shading, the colour choices - just PERFECT. Love everything about this.

Even the details on the loincloth and the bio-mask are out-of-this-world (no pun intended).

This is a tough sculpt to get right - but your time & patience has more than paid off.

On to a Narin Pred sculpt next Paul?

Ian/Spike.

Many thanks Ian, you are very generous with your praise as if anyone knows the subject, you do! As I said, I'm very grateful for
your help in acquiring an original of this iconic kit. I'll get some sharper pics done for the museum soon.

I'd love to try a Narin Predator, his sculpts are so finely detailed. I need to save my pennies before I can think about
one of his masterpieces, The Rapido Master and his friends would be awesome and I couldn't help notice his legendary
Death Warrior is available again! One day perhaps...!

I've just started another kit this afternoon, a rare, vintage kit released back in 1986. Styrene for a change,
I felt like hacking some plastic about, coming to a build thread near you soon! :D

All the best,
Paul

That came out pretty well to say the least Paul :D You have surpassed yourself here with all the various details and textures and I am still in awe of the effect you've achieved with the translucency of the Alien head dome!
Looking forward to seeing what you do with the next project on your workbench!
