Anyone who is a Pink Floyd fan in the Chicago area should check out the El Monstero shows coming to the House of Blues. Tickets are on sale now. These guys are St louis local musicians from several of the bigger area bands that put this together. They have done it for years in St. Louis around Christmas time usually doing around 5 sold out shows at the Pageant. I think they rival or surpass the Australian Pink Floyd show. Check it out!

boxerdog wrote:brave better than fish marillion albums  ,sorry but i don't go for that.esters tear, fugazi, magpie flew them to arenas.clutching kept them there and thats where they woulda stayed if fish had'nt jump ship.brave is an excellent album though.
hogarth works so well in marillion but as a solo artist he seams very average and lost, ice cream genius was crap.i still look forward more to a new fish cd than i do marillion.
I meant Brave was better than what either camp had done apart from each other. I said "possibly" better than three of the Fish era albums. It kind of goes by my mood from day to day. Somedays nothing catches me quite like Fugazi, other days only Brave will work. No matter what, though, nothing touches Misplaced.

I do find it interesting that both camps admit that they made a mistake at the time by splitting apart. In the Misplaced liner notes Fish even states that they should have just taken a little time apart and all would have been fine eventually. I kind of think that they would have split no matter what, as their ideas were breaking into different directions. I remember reading the stories about Fish really wanting to do a covers album that was also a concept album. It was the story of a man thinking about his life, driving around in his car, flipping through the radio. Marillion would then break into covers on the album. I remember Rothery calling it one of the dumbest ideas he had ever heard of. I thought it was just ex-friends talking crap. Then Fish released that horrendous covers CD, and I had to figure Rothery was telling the truth. Upon hearing the album, I expect that the band might have tried a couple of the covers, and realized how bad they sounded. "Hold Your Head Up" was a decent enough cover, but the rest was just terrible.

I would look forward to Fish CDs more if he would find his dang voice again. As I said, I can't stand that "talk/sing" he does on every single song no matter what is going on with the song. He has kind of become the Lou Reed of Prog. He is there to recite poetry over the music and that is it.

Been a Yes fan since the early 70s with Fragile and Close to the Edge!! If you haven`t heard the latest Fly from Here... it is fantastic!!!

Saw Rush in Cleveland last year... amazing!!!! 3 hours with no breaks and they played the entire Moving Pictures album live... very cool!!!

I rank Fly From Here as very good, but warn long-time Yes fans to listen to it with an open mind. It is Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes, and thereby shares a lot of similarities with Drama. If Drama is a good album, then you stand a great chance of enjoying it.

I've tried getting into Hawkwind on numerous occasions, but it just never worked.

I'm building up my Rush collection right now. I had most the early ones on vinyl, but never made a switch to CD. They can all be grabbed for REAL cheap now days, so I decided to start building it up.

My current fave band is Anathema.
They have a new album just out called Weather Systems and it's a real gem.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Weather-Systems ... 555&sr=1-1

The vocal harmonies and sound are to die for. They'll be playing some beautiful accoustic guitar then just switch straight to some crunching electric riff and the whole thing is just brilliant. Not a duff track on it . Highly recommended. :D

So, what do you think is going to happen with Queensryche, now that they have fired Tate and hired a new singer?

They gonna stay prog, or they going to go back to their metal roots?

From all of the complaints I have heard, this is great news for Ryche fans. They might start being able to do something that requires a strong voice again. Hasn't Tate pretty much completely lost it?

If Queensryche went back to their first three albums sound, including the 4 song ep,I would be a fan again.Rage For Order was awsome.

Oh, I'd still be so in, as far as Mindcrime.
But not Empire. That's where they lost me.
