That's a really lovely result Vlad. Excellent work on the arms and it's much better with the mouth closed. As I'm sure you know dinosaurs did not routinely go about with their mouths open as it would dry them out.

Thanks Squiddy ... this figure has an articulated mouth, BTW. So I can display it both ways.. 😁

Took a quick break today from painting up the Groman "Kong Up Top 2.0" for a little dino-bashing ... my "XENOZOIC" dino-rama in the main display shelf in our bedroom was unbalanced ... two tall trees on L and in Center, but - an empty space above Jack's Cadillac .... well, glancing about the studio I spied one of my unfinished Quetzalcoatlus kitbashes ... I would have him zooming, at an angle, right above Jack & Hannah in Jack's Caddy!!!

Image

So, I got about 'bashing it!! Some soft wire was used to connect the wing gaps and extend the wings to the legs - the "gap" between the wings and legs was fitted with two cut down pieces of left-over vinyl from the Giant Kaiyodo Brachiosaurus model used for my "HUMONGOUS" bash. Gaps were glued and all gaps and lines will be putties with Quikplastik/wood putty mix before repainting.

Shat said it best: "This is gonna be BIG, really BIG!"

The progress so far today:

P.S. Worked a good 2-3 hours at mid-day in the garage, and the AC w/fan booster kept the work area temperatures comfy at around 82-83 (while the rest of the garage was moving up closer to 90. My new wall-mounted vintage thermometer confirmed the success of the recent AC installation project!!! :mrgreen2: :thumb2:

Managed to grab a couple of hours this weekend to finish puttying up this Quetzalcoatlus ... next a light sanding and then priming ... then the paint up (this one will hopefully not take too much time ... need to add him to my Xenozoic diorama and paint the magnificent title plate that Tim Fortuna made for me ... :drool2:

Working on the Xenozoic Quetz. today ... about 90 outside, 80 inside courtesy of my newly installed "AC w/fan Boost" hi-tech garage climate system ... :smokin: :thumb:

And hey - guess what? That set up even has some MODELING USES (like helping the paint coats to dry faster to facilitate the speed of the painting!!!) :mrgreen2: \:D/

Basic body paint design is finished. All that is left is the details (repaint the head, then hands & feet).

There will be some colorful highlights around the wingtips. Then the whole bird will get some yellowish amber color washes. Basic paint job was based on Mark Schultz's pterosaur color pattern on the cover art for the 2012 "Xenozoic" hardcover compilation book.
