.
OK - I'll apologise in advance for this - but all those pictures of shelves got me thinking about things that (like the meaning of life, the universe, and everything) have always stretched the thought processes of the human mind. For example . . .
- 1) What do you call laundry detergent on the top shelf? High tide
2) I went to the butchers the other day and I bet him fifty bucks that he couldn't reach the meat on the top shelf . . . he refused to do it, saying "The steaks are too high".
3) My wife asked "Honey, could you reach that crockery on the top shelf? - it’s too high for me" . . . it was a challenge, but I stepped up to the plate.
4) Trev's always had the same advice for folks who feel marginalised . . . "Just be your shelf".
- . . . I'm here every night this week, don't forget to tip your waiter

PS: Nice work Trev
.

Well, it took a little longer than hoped. I had a slight delay.

Had to empty the closet so the exterminator could spray all the baseboards for beatles.
But, I finally got it all put back, and started filling the new shelves. Should have the site updated tonight or tomorrow as well.
Finally have all my awards out on display. Still have to find the two bronze medals I got this year so I can hang them off the shelves.
Got all my smaller kits separated out now, so it's a bit easier to see all of them.
Making progress on the Prehistoric Scenes shelves, but still a long way to go.
Same with the Monster Scenes section. At least now I have the shelves ready for my Monsters of the Movies, as well as the Graveyard Scenes kits. At least most of them.
Now I just have to actually build the damn things

Well, me trying new things, and buying even more supplies lead to me needing to work a bit on storage again.
Trying my hand at oil painting now (see the "Whats on my bench" thread.
More specifically I am trying out the oil paint I saw in a video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDWLDBw62A0
From Mig and called Oilbrushers. Very convenient, and a good way to kind of work on learning this stuff.
Anyway, I needed a way to store them and still have them easily accessible.
Now, they do make a holder, but most places seem to be out of stock, and the ones that aren't are asking close to $40 for it.
I have a bunch of stuff laying around and made my holder out of scrap lumber.
Just wish I had a drill press and some forstner bits to drill those holes. Having to continually clear the hole saw bit was a minor PITA.
While I was at it, I also made it useful for my Golden fluid acrylics. I love using that paint, but always forget I have it.
Now it will be out where I can see it, and actually use it.
Might give this a coat of polyurethane tomorrow.
Next I plan to tackle my FW inks. I really need a good way to store those also.

Ingenious little storage thingy - how'd you get the holes to be the right size? They look too big to be drilled - or was it a giant drill bit you used?

The smaller holes were done with a hole saw.
The larger holes were done with a spaded bit.
Wish I would have had a spade bit the right size for the smaller holes. Would have been a lot easier.

Well, I filled out the rest of the wall today.
And I have come to the conclusion, this display room isn't big enough. I still have a bunch of PS kits that aren't on those shelves yet. Guess once I actually get them built and painted, I'm gonna have to squish them together even more.

I was just thinking looking at those boxes on the floor ... "he's gonna run out of room" ... Well, there room in the basement for some display areas - isn't there?

That. Or I've been kicking around the idea that once I get my Monster Scenes all built and displayed, I might sell that off.
Eventually, something is gonna have to give and I'm going to have to downsize something.

If you display some models in the basement then the challenge that you may have (which I do) is by displaying your kits near your work area, resins dust from cutting / sanding kit modifications may get on your displayed models, and resin dust is a real pain to clean off without ruining the paint job.
But I would take that option versus having to get rid of some of your models.
Hope you find a good solution .
Your display room looks great!

Looking very good!! All those Prehistoric Scenes brings me back to being a kid with my own collection (all long gone sadly).
Vlad, I'd be embarrassed to show you my hobby area with the boxes for fear the word hoarder would come up.
One solution I'm thinking about is creating a "museum" similar to the guy that runs Fantastic Plastic. He's often said that early on he was in a little condo in So. Cal., and had room for only a few of his models. There were a few at his work office, but the rest was in storage. What he did was create
FANTASTIC-PLASTIC.COM. He took his models - mostly aviation of some kind, space and sci-fi vehicles - created categories, and within the category creating a timeline - 30s, 40s, 50s etc... And all the models would fit in somewhere. On each page he had a paragraph or 2 about the real craft, and then similar for the model with a 1 to 5 rating of how easy it is/was to find one. When the page was complete he would pack it up and off it went to the garage or some other storage place with the rest of the models. Our Museum and Gallery has similar categories so the template is there for your own online museum. Just my 2¢.
