I prefer to think of it as embracing volumetric density as a curatorial aesthetic.

Klingon Hallmark Card - Congratulations ... by Steve J, on Flickr

Unlike Worf, I am not a Klingon, and this is… of course…. Much more than “adequate”.

It is, in a word…

OUTSTANDING!!!

Nice to finally see the final result of all your work and dedication to the hobby. What an accomplishment!

Thanks Joe! So busy this summer, no chance to do anything more complicated. But this was a lot of fun! 🤩🤩🤩

Now when I look at that Xenozoic scene, everything seems to fit. All the characters are there, there is a storyline you can glean, and the overall presentation is balanced out. 🥳

I've no doubt. And a fine ambition it is too. Plenty of room for it in his upstairs studio.

Major "SHOUT OUT" to Tim Fortuna, who made this oversized "Xenozoic" name plate that I wanted to put under my "Xenozoic" display. Not only did he accommodate the weird size request, but he reproduced ALL of the upraised "speckles" and holes that are part of the Mark Schultz's design for the logo.

I had put off painting it because ... I DREAD painting nameplates with a brush ...

... BUT THEN ...

I remembered that I had bought some various size round painting sponges on a stick - might those work to gently "STAMP" the red color on? I was gonna find out. But first, using that (by now) "Magic" Camo Sand spray paint that I found when I was working on installing an AC vent in the garage, I spray painted the name plate.

Then, I took out the sponges ... picking one of the larger ones, I poured some flamenco red acrylic paint, carefully dipped the sponge, scraped off the excess ... and ... GENTLY rubbed it over the upraised parts of the name plate ...

... and, in less than 5 minutes - I was DONE!!!! :mrgreen2: A miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rolf: Well you could knock me over with a feather!! :thud

Then I did a black oil wash, let it dry, and sealed it. Last step was to put a magnetic tape on the back for mounting purposes.

... and ... VOILA!!! :thumb2: :jam:

WOW looks terrific!

I just saw an advert email for the flat sponge on a stick and thought "Hmm..."
I too hate doing nameplates, and will reconsider these sponges.

Thanks Joe!

Almost ruined it with an Amber oil wash that was too dark. But I asked copilot how to fix it and wound up putting some mineral spirits on a sponge, dabbing it on the bottom surface of the bird that should be lighter than the top and then rubbing it off with a paper towel.

It lightened it massively, saving the project!

Ahhhh, Fall in South Texas ... beautiful ... balmy ... flowers abloom ... Sauropods perching ... *Wait* WHAT? :bshock:

Oh THAT? Well ... if you must know ... I was just ... AIRBRUSHING  the Sauroposeidon with that Camo Sand spray paint ... see I figure that might limit the paint job to just the dark blue pattern uptop, blended into the sand, and then oil-washed to add some depth ... yeah, I'll admit it - I'm cutting corners ... about the only way I'll get brave enough to tackle a paint job this BIG!!! :mrgreen2:
