Oh, yeah! Maybe we'll bring our pet polar bears and have wrestling matches outside the Embassy?tay666 wrote:We missed you too.RossAWaddell wrote:tay666 wrote:Missed seeing you and Britny this year.
One of the first things we were asking when we got there.
"Where's the Embassy?"
We were sad when we heard you guys couldn't make it.
Just means we'll have to have twice as much fun next year.

We brought Molson and Labatt Blue this year to help make you feel more at home.
(and I don't care what any studies say against it, the Molson straight from Canada tastes better than the Molsen we can buy here)

Not to sound corny, but after 12 straight years, then Not going for two years in a row , its like I've lost something that was a part of me
Gonna be back in 2015 without fail!
Good to hear this year was a good show for so many dealers and contest entries
I think if the hobby has survived the last few trying years and still maintains the level of sales, contest entries, and wonderfest attendance that we are still seeing, this hobby is not going anywhere
Those that are into it are "really" into it and Are not going anywhere. And as for new enthusiasts, I don't think the niche hobby needs new younger people entering to keep it alive. It's maintaining itself by attracting a steady flow of the 30-50 year olds.

Re: DUMBEST THING OVERHEARD @ WF
I attended WF in 2013 for - probably - my last time.
It's a personal choice. I won't predict the end of days for the hobby, but the vendor room was pretty sad compared to what I had come to expect.
The wire sculpture guy??? The knives & weapons guy?? The empty vendor tables??? Still, there are some vendors doing exceptional work and presentations - Filmy's and BlackHeart come to mind- but they seem to be few & far between.
I skipped this year, but a vendor told me it was very slow. It's troubling.

This was my 20th Wonderfest and I have to say, it was everything I expected and more. Pure Vitality. Va-Voom!!! Dealer's room packed. Sales seemed to be good because by the time I made a buying decision and doubled back to the vendor's table, the item was gone! Same regret as always...never, never enough $$$. But, hey, that's why we look forward to next year. The contest:Unreal. Entry after entry pushing the limits of GK modeling. Worth it just for the contest.
Plenty of sweet nostalgia but more than enough new stuff to keep the enthusiasm going.
Already booked and busy building for next year.
