I`m a big fan of Metal/Rock,but have a soft spot for "Cry Little Sister" from The Lost Boys movie,so a good cover is by the band Zug Izland ,titled "Cry".

That...is pretty interesting.....I need to listen to that a few more times.
^I'm surprised there haven't been more comments on this, either positive or negative. I sorta' like it myself.

Anybody see Fergie doing the female wail on Gimme Shelter with Jagger and U2 on the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame? I never paid a bit of attention to The Black Eyed Peas but this woman can seriously sing her heinie off.*

*Metallica backing Ozzy on Iron Man/Paranoid was a lot of fun too.

I'm a cover junkie - too many good ones to list. A couple though...

Pretty much anything by the Hayseed Dixies.

Camper Van Beethoven's take on "Pictures of Matchstick Men."

Siouxsie and the Banshees doing "The Passenger."

Bowie's version of "I Wanna Be Your Dog." The original was good, but Bowie tightens it up so much.

That cover of "Mad World" on the Donnie Darko soundtrack is vastly better than the original IMO.

Ok, I dug this thread up, because there have been a couple covers on the radio lately I wanted to discuss.

The first one is the Immigrant Song from the soundtrack for Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkP3urtYCkc

I actually kind of like it. It freshens up a song that had gotten kind of tired for me. Well, maybe not tired, but for almost 10 years now, the only thing that came to mind whenever I heard it was Viking Kittens. So.
This version at least breaks that cycle.

The other one, is
Godsmack doing Rocky Mountain Way
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieb5Z9cpiAs
Not really a fan of this one. I like music. The crunchier tunes sound really good. But the vocals just kill it for me. He has the wrong voice for this.
I would love to hear Joe Walsh do the vocals with this music track though. I think that would be lots of fun.

I caught part of this and wondered who it was. I agree, the music was good, vocals not so much. Thats my opinion of a lot of stuff I hear now though. The screaming growl does nothing for me.

Tim Capello (on The Lost Boys soundtrack) - I Still Believe - The Call
Foo Fighters (until the last portion of the song) - Down In the Park - Gary Newman
Gary Jules (Donny Darko soundtrack) - Mad World - Tears For Fears
Van Halen - Where Have All the Good Times Gone - The Kinks
Emerson, Lake & Palmer - "Peter Gunn" Theme - Henry Mancini

I know there are more but they've either been mentioned already or I can't think of them offhand.

In a more modern vein:

The Koffin Kats, "Maneater"

http://youtu.be/Gq7tv6de2wE

And

Cold Blue Rebels, "Enter Sandman"

http://youtu.be/rlrjDavsO-0

And

Igor and the Red Elvises "Bad Romance". Only clips I could find are bad live recorings... The studio version is tremendous!

And it smokes the Sex Pistols version. I will take the Monkees version first, but the Threat version is right behind it.
