I see 3D-printed spikes . . . my world will never be the same
(* There can be only ONE ! *)
Looking good Joe..
Agree with Spike - those spikes are adding serious "visual interest" to the build! As far as them being printed ... sometimes new technology is a GOOD thing!!!
Thanks !
Yup, I found a guy who was kind enough to print me several hundred spikes of various sizes.
They have already saved me a lot of time on this bash.
And I plan to use them to replace all my scratch sculpted (and not sharp enough) spikes on my fell beast dragon bash.

We had a great trip !
We drove a total of 2,450 miles with no issues, had great weather at every stop, the 2 ren fairs were cool, visited and had fun with several friends, and drank lots of beer

I usually avoid using this blimmin' "smilie" . . . but it's appropriate here . . .

But of course. We never doubted you.'Back to the shop' she goes!

Sharpened up and refined back spikes as I did not like the double row of spikes going all the way down to the waist.
Slimmed down the leg area directly above the hoofs, and reduced the height of the right hoof.
Started blocking in the colors

I'm going to be honest - I preferred the previous take on the spikes - looked more natural & "nasty". The current version reminds me of a playing card suit (sorry).
But it's YOURS and so it's YOUR taste that matters.
Thank you for the honest feedback Ian!
By previous version,
did you mean the single row of spikes,
or
Or the cluster of spikes but with more of them running all the way down the back?

I just liked the overall look of the unpainted placement (last post on previous page - 1 photo copied below).
I'm also wondering if it's the angle of the photos, or that it's now test-painted that's making the difference
It's also possible I'm a blimmin' idiot who cannot make his mind up!
Thanks for the clarification Ian.
I think it may be a combination that the center line spikes were a bit bigger in prévious version and the differences in color of the spikes,
Making them appear more random and varied.
Let’s see how it looks once I paint the spikes. And I may lengthen and thicken some of the spikes again.
Thanks again for your honest and helpful feedback!

THIS !
Well-done for being able to take my gibberish and figure out what I was seeing even when I couldn't explain it myself
Reworking the spikes.
Made center spine spikes bigger
Adding some more variable size spikes.
Running the spike pairs a little further down the back.
Good thing that I bought a couple hundred of the 3d printed spikes

Hmmm, well, as I have said before B-A, you often see my bashes in a totally different way than I do…

Glad to hear you like the reworked spikes Ian, very good call on your part - thanks !
Still blocking in the base colors
Still have to tone down the greens and yellows, then do the detailing
