Thanks Ian ! I appreciate your consistent encouragement and kind words which are very motivational.
And I am having lots of fun with these bashes!
I am anxious to finish the changes and get to painting as I think the added spikes and enhanced nodules should really pop…

Interesting ....

Having it holding a spear will fit with the mythology, as well as with some of your other bashes like the Egyptian crocodile head. 👹

There are so many different ways you can go with this bash, I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with it next! 😁

Thanks Vlad!

So I received the custom sized 3d printed bases and started cutting them up.

BEFORE CUTTING

SLIMMED DOWN PORTAL
I will attach to the end of the stone base
Image

TEMPORARILY CUT OFF STONE PYLONS
I will reattach them but at a wider and more open angle so they do not crowd the creature

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! :bshock: :bshock: :bshock:

*STARGATE* vibes there!!! Will you be re-attaching the pointed pillars - or would that not give the figure enough room?

I shortened and lowered the neck/head third from the right so it would not block the view of the Cthulhu head on the portal.

I am moving the spike-alters (and adding skulls) to the very front of the base so as not to be hidden by the larger pillars.

Every new "Reveal" on this build is another level of ... MIND-BLOWING ... :drool2:

Your every new twist is carefully planned and executed ... I mean as hard as I look at this ... every position, every element "belongs" ...

According to a recent survey - some Spikes SHOULD remain hidden, and most certainly don't belong :-#

Such is life, and much like the Murphy's - I'm not bitter (I suspect that line will only be understood by UK-types).

This is looking amazing, and I agree 100% with Vlad's praise.

Always a joy watching you work (not that I've been peering through your windows or anything 8-[ )

Thanks !

Roughed in the newly positioned pillars.
Attached the front smaller pillars to the spiked alters.
Lots of detailing and blending in to do yet.

Yeah - looking great (and no - none of us are surprised).

Few thoughts - ignore totally because I haven't got a clue really . . .
  • 1) I did wonder if the spikey-columns would have been better at a variety of angles, but they look good as-is.
    2) I am pulled out of the scene a bit by the skulls though - not sure if they are needed, and if they are, should they be a smaller scale? (they sort of diminish the "grandness" of the creature & setting). Could just be me though.
    3) The skulls could be replaced with something else - small lanterns or fire cauldrons perhaps?
    4) Also worried the spear may be a little too long (should maybe be a bit shorter so he isn't at risk of banging into those spikey-columns as he slithers downwards?)

Thank you Vlad and Ian for the feedback!

To address each of Ian’s thoughtful comments:
1. I am a big fan of symmetry , so,glad you are good with them being aligned.
2. Yeah, although the skulls are 1/6 scale same as the creature, my wife also said the skulls are not working.
3. Good ideas ! LED lanterns/fire might be cool? but then I have to worry about changing batteries every so often. We shall see…
4. The angle of the pics may be exaggerating his spear length (I know, I know, that’s what she said 😜) . But I will check next work session.

I Really appreciate the comments and suggestions - please keep them coming !

"SLAVE of symmetry?" Say it isn't so, Joe!!!! (Sorry-couldn't resist).

I WOULD slide the spear towards the right as its actually not balanced now and the point should be a little farther out from his Left hand ... otherwise I agree that the skulls are way too large. This is the most EEEEEviiiiilll creature in the universe - he needs to dwarf those puny humans - doesn't he? :alcoholic:

I think you are right. Looks like a good length to me, it just seems kind of awkward with the angle of everything.
