Re: Jam #108 A superhero, a monster, and a woman.
At this scale, the wire mesh will still make the cape too thick to make sure the pattern doesn't show and forming the folds would look unnatural. I've used the cloth in resin method before but in order for it to work you need to have the base formed so you just drape the resined cloth while it dries. I think with batman's cape I did it in segments hardened each segments as they were formed, put it all together and then hit it with another blast of heat to harden the whole piece.

Oh? You callin' me out, are ya, Jr.?
Ahhh-shoot! My job has me sitting in an uncomfortable chair all day long doing assembly work. By the end of the day my back, tailbone and neck don't want me sitting down to sculpt at all.
Anywho...apparently, the missus has plans for me to be digging out dirt and building a retaining wall flower bed this weekend. Yaa!!! for Father's Day!

Re: Jam #108 A superhero, a monster, and a woman.
yeah, paid 300 pounds for my 'student' model stand ; very expensive but a good purchase. a kinda studio in one anywhere you need. one warm days its nice to stand outside and sculpt.
though warm days are rarer here....
definately want to go back to using it with chavant and such. raking the clay is enjoyable!
last night shift tonite then its sculptin time!

Ain't that the truth? I love raking. I guess it's kind of like a Japanese rock garden thing with me. I find it very relaxing, almost mesmerizing in a way.raking the clay is enjoyable!
Have I said too much?

Cracked on the elbow and crotch area but otherwise it worked out. I'll fix some other small issues later on.
