Tim, I've got the same exact weather as you do. :gulp:

It's not supposed to snow for Christmas either, just more of the same from what I've heard.

At least it isn't a blizzard and the less I have to turn the furnace on, the better! :xmas:

Twas windy here in Ca. yesterday, knocked some power lines, blew some trees down. Today is perfect weather. Sunny, warm.

Think I am finished with Jor El.
Here is the piece, also below I posted the original one I did a few months back. I like the changes. I think it improved from the past effort. I would guess that it really helped seeing the life mask and having an actual Hot Toy head on hand to try and emulate their quality. Not there yet but maybe someday.

I'm going to try another actor: Chris Evans. I hope everyone is doing well. The year is almost done and I hope that everyone will have a very enjoyable last few days in 2011.

Awesome sculpt Jr! Its looking spot on! I think all it needs to put it over the top is an expression thats really identified with M. Brando's character. Maybe a slight wrinkle between the eyebrows to give him a concerned look...

I got the expression tip off Adam Bean, all his work is made with an expression thats well known to that celeb he sculpts and it seems to bring his work to life.

Keep going man he's looking ace!

Rus

Merry Christmas everyone!! :xmas:

I dropped the ball on this one. I decided to try and enter an art contest and spent the last month working on it and have realized that I have failed at the art and now I failed at this jam because I never even tried.

hmmm, a little harsh on yerself there mate. there is always time , just gotta keep doing sculpture. if you have something worth the time to show then awesome if not then dont beat on yourself for it.
i havent popped any pics up yet either but hey! i am not idle back here either. just do things in yer own time. they'll be better that way i think.

what do you say Mods?

currently i am still on my 24 inch anatomy piece , Elektra wax up and carving another head back making corrections based on wht i have learned so far..... pics when worth showin!! :D :D

You guys are the best! Thanks.

Don't you feel guilty and upset when something you want fails? I feel like I let the coach down (which is an odd feeling for someone that never played a sport). I just hate that feeling.

I will still try faces, maybe some over the holiday. I have to learn at some point since I have a list of 65 sculpts and probably 60 of them have a face. haha I took two evenings of beer and movies to shake the comic book failure out and I will be back in the man cave tonight.
Last night was Molsen Golden with Popeye and Master and Commander and the night before was Budweiser with District 9 and Gold Rush reruns.

Thanks again for the support - Cope

Steve, don't worry about it. Try being a JamMod/JamCheerleader that only participates once in a blue moon!

Several years ago, I decided to make sculpting my recreational pursuit and not to let it become something that was just another chore. I know that right now, if I start a sculpt, I won't have time to finish it because of other commitments. That would take all of the fun out of it. So it's a Catch 22; I don't sculpt so it will be fun when I have time to, but I don't have fun because they're are so many sculpts I want to do that I'm not working on. How's that for logic?

So I live vicariously through you guys on the forums until I can get back into it.

Anyway, that's why I have Gary's comment as a quote in my sig-line below. 8)

Sorry about the whinning. The depression is over and last night I was back in the man cave mixing clay and cutting on the costume. I put Willow in and it was a good night. I snagged 4 spoons from the kitchen and I am goingto use those as the base for my facial attempts.

Have a great new year everybody!!
