temporary leave of absense
hi folks
a few months ago my left femur started aching mildly. the pain would wax and wane depending on how gingerly i moved on it, but overall it wasnt all that bad. then a few weeks ago i tripped while waling down my back deck stairs, missing the last 2 stairs entirely and causing my left knee to smash into the concrete driveway at full force. the lag pain stated to spiral upwards at that point.
thursday, after pain had prevented any sleep for the previous 4 or 5 nights, and had become constant and extreme, i asked my manager drive me to the hospital, where i spent the next couple of days undergoing tests. the results have not been what you would call pleasant.
the preliminary prognosis is stage 4 cancer. an area a few inches long in my upper left outer femur has eroded away, leaving a hole about 2/3 the width of the femur in its place. they have also found a dark spot on my lung, which they suspect is the real culprit, and has been sending out little torpedoes of destruction eroding the leg. we will not know ahything for certain until the biopsy in the next few days.
i dont know how this is all going to end up i do not know. they are throwing some very scary terms at me; terms like 'amputation' and 'quality rather than quantity of life'.
so gang, please just keep me in your thoughts and know that i will be back with you A.S.A.P.
thanks!

Not something you want to hear but at least they caught it.

Re: temporary leave of absense
An awful thing to hear.
I hope this condition responds to treatment.
Losing a leg is no joke, but its not so disabling as it once was, if you can afford a quality prosthesis.
Don't let body image get in the way of effective treatment.
