Christian Knaak never became a member of the Clubhouse, which is a shame as he was a very talented modeler and painter of many, many dinosaur resin kits. Martin Garratt was a friend of his who painted up some of Christian's models. So were Shane Foulkes and David Krentz, among others. Other members of this board also knew him. He passed away unexpectedly last week at age 52 of a heart attack.
He was a loving husband and father to two children. He was also a humanitarian in the purest sense. I would like to quote a post from a thread in another forum of which he was a member:
"One other thing that no one has mentioned because Christian did not talk about it here - as a cancer research scientist he had devoted his life to helping to find new treatments for this dread disease and to move medicine toward an ultimate cure for cancer.
Outside of his role as a loving husband and father, this contribution to his fellow man is going to be a huge part of his legacy for which he will be remembered by others who continue his work and by those who benefit from it.
God Bless his memory and hold up his loved ones at this time of loss and change."
Lastly, here is a link to a thread with photos of his dinosaur collection. As you scroll down, among the PVC dinosaur figures you will find his build-ups of many, many dinosaur resin kits that you are all familiar with:

RIP Christian, I was really shocked when I received the news about it I couldn't even believe it. I had little a conversation with him just 10 days before He was a really nice person to talk to, He never mentioned about His research or anything like that, now that I know about it Im really glad I meet such a great person dedicated with so much devotion to help other people, always nice, always supportive. We will miss you Christian
I wish the best for his family and friends.

Re: RIP Christian Knaak, paleo modeler, humanitarian
Christian was the only person ever to ask me to paint a model for him and I can't put into words how flattered I am to this day and especially now about that. I did have a slight falling out with him over something trivial but I did patch things up with him and I am pleased that I did. I am saddened that we will never collaborate on another project. He was a good Husband and Father and, yes, a very good modeller. I give my deepest condolences to his family and I regret not knowing him better.
Do not pursue him! He will not return to these lands. Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of Man will he fall..

I heard about this a few days ago and I still can't believe it. I met him many years ago on DTF and we remained in touch since then, he was an extraordinary and intelligent person and he had awesome taste as a collector, he will be missed.
I hope his family is OK.
