Here is my latest creation, Earth Vs. The SPIDER. For it I used the AMT Gigantics Tarantula and two of the people. I don't care for the cardboard buildings that come with the original Gigantics kits so I decided a cave scene would be the way to go. Since a good portion of the film takes place in a cave. I tried to capture the scene were the two teenagers fall into the spider web with the SPIDER approaching. This makes the spider look way more menacing. The cave is made out of Aves Apoxie Sculpt. The web is made from your average vinyl window screen. Since in the movie they use a cargo net to look like the web, I wanted the model to have a similar look. I think I captured the movie just right. This is a good example of how you can take a average ok model and make it better. Check out the photos. Enjoy!
That is some beautiful, pristine work. Its pretty much what Aurora should have done had they issued a kit of Earth Vs The Spider. A film which I happen to like a lot and which I reflect upon whenever exploring caves. Paul Blaisdell worked on that picture and created a little mask for the real tarantula to wear. Producers said it was "too horrible" to keep in the film so it was not used. However, it might be pretty cool if a kit conversion replacement head (it would slip over the standard Gigantics tarantula model surface) could be offered like the ones for the Monster Scenes.

Ya the eyes were "cat-like" and moving. Read that somewhere. Pretty creepy! I bet it would have looked cool.
I kind of pictured it as looking sort of like "Little Hercules" from Beast With A Million Eyes". However, the effect might have ended up like a "Zanti Misfit" which would have been creepy.
