ya know...although I've never had this happen to me; I've actually thought of starting a thread asking if anyone has ever found out that one of their paint-ups had ever been entered in a contest by someone else...I've often thought that with the number of different pieces I've done for different people all over the country, what would be the chances of someone taking a piece and entering it in a contest...no I know it's actually happened.
It's kind of sad actually.

Have you pointed this out to the folks in charge of the contest at WF?? Seems like yelling at a wall just posting it here on a modeling forum...

I am more disappointed and amused than angry. I will let the W'fest people know because it isn't fair to everyone else if he is allowed to continue doing stuff like this.

Agree whole heartedly.

That's utterly lame. How pathetic must someone be to pull a stunt like that?

And think that it wouldn't get noticed at such a large show as WF.

Actually that I could easily believe. Most entries are only seriously judged by a team of two individuals with show staff pulled in to make sure that overall judging is consistent, and special award sponsors making their own selections. The hobby has gone on for so long with so many kits over the years, that in my experience, most judges aren't aware of the provenance of every kit they're examining. Over the years, I was involved in lots of conversations where judges were debating whether a piece was a pre-paint, and if so had it been repainted completely. The only two people who likely knew that this kit was Jerry's work were Jerry and the clown who entered it.

The blood stains clinched it for me. I can even see where the paint had gotten rubbed off by the foot on the neck.
I painted this kit several years for Nightmare Collectibles as a display. I have his contact info but what are ya gonna do?
Just to make sure everyone realises (in case they didn't read the whole thing) . . .
Mark Dzurnak who owns Nightmare Collectibles would NEVER have done this.
He obviously sold the buildup as part of his recent selling spree. I'll be pinging him to let him know.
I have no idea who "Charles Williams" is
.

Yes, this was sold by me on EBay a few months back with full acknowledgment of Jerry's fine work on it. No idea it would be entered in the WF contest. Sorry for any trouble this may have caused.

Why would anyone even do this! Does this guy want a trophy that bad? What an insecure little weasel. I would definitely out him to the folks running the show.

As a very, very, small kit producer, I hope that the name of the individual who submitted this work as his own comes to light. You can bet that he’ll be put on my “No Sell” list faster than you can say “ dirtyhorse”. Thievery is a slippery slope and if he’s willing to take credit for somebody else’s work, can recasting be out of the realm of possibility?

Most miniature figure shows have a special "Collector's" category where people can display their purchases. In fact, they do give awards for best collection. It is a great way to see the work of fantastic artists who are no longer with us - as a sort of homage. In all cases, the display credits the artists for their work.
Perhaps the WF staff could consider adding that as a category to their show, so the artists get credit for their work while the collectors get kudos for their excellent taste and fat wallets.

The contest room (and hotel in general) is crowded enough...I don't thinik they need to add a "Look at my collection" category in addition to everythingt else going on.
That being said, what they have done once or twice in the past is had a special display room or area to honor a particular character or collection or individual...but that was one persons collection.
For example this year there was a special display dedicated to Mike Parks and his contribution to the hobby showing a large number of the different things he'd created over his life.

I doubt that was the intent in this instance.

I got a ton of pics of that.
Gonna be a while until I get through all 1500 pics I took over the weekend though.
