#1 Post by tay666 »

In case anyone hasn't been paying attention.
WF has been announcing guests fairly regularly.
Keep an eye on this page to see who will be there this year

for me it would be the after hour get togethers...just shooting
the bull over smokes and drinks.

Hell, I'd go to a convention that ALL you did for 3 days was
sit around and shoot the bull!! :)

Honestly, it isn't that crowded.
Sure, first thing Saturday morning there is a big crowd for the dealers room. But after the initial wave, things thin out nicely. People move on to seeing demos or presentations etc.
It's crowded enough for the vendors to make some good sales, but not so bad that it is hard to maneuver or see what you want.

Then, it's the same for the contest room. When it first opens to the public, there is a big crowd, and lots of people stopping to look and take pics of kits. But it isn't like you are elbow to elbow with people. If there is a crowd at one area, just move to another and come back to that one when it thins out.

Exactly!
That is the biggest draw. Heck, it's why a lot of us come in on Thursday. There isn't enough time to hang out with everyone. The stuff during show hours is just icing on the cake. :D

About these after hours things. Are newbs invited? Where are they?
It's not that I think stupidity should be punishable by death.

I just think we should take the warning labels off of everything and let the problem take care of itself.

Locations vary. The only reason to go is to see friends and kits in the same place. The vendor show is just an added bonus in regards to the weekend. Getting in on thursday is a necessity as there is never enough time to see everyone and everything.
Man lives in the sunlit world of what he believes to be reality.

If you want to see what i do for fun take a click, It may be disturbing.

Watching U-tube videos will never compare to being there in person. Always seems like there is never enough time - people you miss seeing, demos you miss and it always seems like I always miss seeing something in the dealers room and contest room no matter how many times I cruise through them.

Well, for after hours, I hit 3 main areas.
One being hanging out in the lobby. That is where I usually get to meet and hang out with new people, as well as those that don't really drink a whole lot.
2nd is the CultTVman Suite. I drop in there to see how crowded it is, and what movie is being shown.
Cult usually has a roomful of people, and some of the movies aren't really my thing, so I tend to hit there later in the evening when things clear out a bit more.
Last, and where I tend to spend most of my time. The Canadian Embassy!
We gather on the second floor patio until well into the morning.

As far as I am concerned, newbies are always welcome. How else are we going to meet more fun people to share our love of the hobby.

Hey all! A bit of good news! Looks like I'm finally going to make my way down to WF. It's been a long standing dream of mine to go, but for various reasons I could never get the stars to line up in my favor. Because of my diagnosis last year, my entire wishlist had suddenly become a bucket list. Well, my wonderful wife and my brother have teamed up to tick off this one big line item. I'll be flying into Louisville on Friday with my wife. Due to my progressing condition, I probably can't participate in a lot of activities, BUT I WILL be there and hopefully, I'll get to meet some of the great people I've come to know through the Clubhouse. This is most likely be a one shot deal for me, so I hope to at least say hi to any CH members at least once. (Yay!)
Steven

CALM DOWN. It's only a hobby.

Oh, and MODEL ON!
