Converting a 130mm figure into a Star Trek TOS female crew.

I've wanted a TOS Trek figure to go with my 1/12 Kirk, Spock, Horta, Mugato figures But None seem to be available.

I found a 1/12 female resin kit on ebay and decided to try and convert it.

This is what I got.

Image

It's 130mm, so not really 1/12, its a bit small.

Image

I repositioned the 1 leg and arms a bit for a more normal pose and sketched the uniform on her.

Image

Started on the mini skirt and neckline with sculpting putty.

Image

Thinned out the sculpting putty with alcohol and started to build up the uniform.

After It hardened a bit, I smoothed it out with alcohol.

Starting on the boots.

Image

The soles still need some work.

Image

Filling in the uniform a bit.

Image

The tape is where the boot tops will be and the sleeves will end.

That is coming along nicely.

Next time, you might save the work and snag one of these next time they are in stock.

Thanks!

I've her on my wish list at Cult for about a year.
I hope she comes in, I waited about 16 months for my Mugato kit from that series.

Image

I made the first cut at her sleeves. Overall I'm happy with how they came out, They still need a bit of cleanup.

I started on the boots today. To be honest, I was fretting a bit about this step. I didn't have a clear plan that I liked.

I had made the soles before, While not really happy with them I could not think of anything better to do.

I used CA and glued them to the feet.

Then it was time to start slinging mud!

They still need work but so far I'm very happy with where they are now!

I'll let the putty dry for a few hours .

I found it interesting that you were able to smooth her uniform out so well. I thought that once the clay hardened, that was that. I do like seeing how it's going for you.

I've had good luck using the Magic Sculpt and thinning it with alcohol.

If I let the putty start to set, then use alcohol to smooth it out. It work, but the timing can be critical.

Thanks!

I'm toying with the idea of giving her antenna and making her an Andorian.

Were there any Andorian's in Star Fleet in TOS times? Probably as they were founding members of the Federation.

If I go the Andorian route with her, what uniform color should she be in?

Most Females in TOS were in red, but many of them were yeoman. I'm planning on making her a lieutenant.

A bit more work, but not much to show for it.

Starting the fine fill work.

I finally got back to her today.

I'm starting on the heals and soles of the boots.

When I repositioned her left leg it became slightly shorter. I'm building up that sole a bit.

Image

The putty is drying now.

I also got a bridge chair for her from Shapeways, but it looks too big.

Thanks!

Slow progress. I put the 1st coat of primer on her to see where I stand.

Looks like more sanding and filling.

I think her right boot is a bit shorter than the left.
