My name is ALICE!

#1 Post by sparkvark007 »

Alice, (portrayed by Milla Jovovich) from the zombie apocalypse movie series Resident Evil. This 1/6 kit features her in a stealthy ninja outfit seen at the beginning of the fourth movie installment, Resident Evil: Afterlife.
As many of you too may have also experienced, modeling swords in miniature can be challenging. Be they styrene, cast resin or 3dP resin, they are usually too thick to scale, crooked, bent, or easily warped. Not to mention just plain very fragile. It’s unfortunate when you see a nicely finished model and the blades just don’t look quite right. So with the katanas being such prominent elements of this model, I decided to replace the kit blades using sheet aluminum, since it would probably be the easiest to work with and not need to be painted when finished. It took an evening of cutting, filing, sanding and polishing but the finished results were worth the effort. I also reworked the machine guns with added metal and plastic details.

Alice’s stealth outfit is basically just various treatments on black, (gloss, semi-gloss, statin & flat) and the kit comes with a simple Umbrella corporation logo base. This makes for a nice finished model presentation, but it’s kind of low key overall. I wanted my finished build to have a little more visual impact. After a little searching on the web, a came across an illustration that gave me the idea to show how Alice’s look evolved across the six movie franchise. I fabricated the base from CNC cut plex and PVC plastic sheets. I’ve also been wanting to start adding LED’s to my projects. As time goes on, it’s getting easier to integrate them because if smaller sizes, lower power requirements and the proliferation of rechargeable battery banks. The umbrella logo and the red bottom base are illuminated from below by battery powered LED strip lights.

Hey @sparkvark007 ! Excellent presentation!

Another thing that could be used for making 1/6th Scale swords is those little metal strips that can be found in just about every parking lot in America.

I don't know what they are. Wiperblade support strips? Broken dip-sticks? Part of a shopping cart?

It might be possible to put a curve in them to make katanas, if not, they'd make perfect rapiers or Chinese style straight swords.

If anyone knows what those little metal strips actually are...PLEASE LET ME KNOW! Drives me crazy everytime I pick one up and not knowing what it is! ~Nate.

Holy crap that is amazing!

Mr Pencil, pretty sure I know what you are talking about and I think they do come from wiper blades. Excellent idea, by the way.
