The Cyclops - a kit worth building!

#1 Post by Tim Casey »

I had given up on styrene until this came out. I'd suggest snagging one now before they're all gone for good.

Enjoy! And go build a model!

Nice job Tim. I hadn't considered before but you made me think about it now, excellent work.

WOW - Just perused your online gallery -you have some super nice build ups!!!

The profile of this Cyclops looks like a still from the movie - now I know why Joe Laudati gave it so much love on FB! The front view is OK too - but the diorama is KILLER!! I know exactly where I intend to display it, too ... :drool2:

Wahay, styrene can still pack a punch! The sculpt looks great and your build is excellent, especially the extra textures on his legs. Did Laudati sculpt this?
This guy and the new Vampirella are still on pre-order only here in the UK :( hopefully available by March!

Cheers,
Paul

I believe that the Medusa was the only one that Laudati sculpted for the X-Plus line ... he was a little miffed (and rightly so, I might add) that they didn't ask him to do more pieces, given that he has been the premiere Harryhausen critter sculptor the past 40 years ...

Thanks for the kind words, folks.

And while we're on the topic, does anyone know who the sculptor is so I can give them credit on my website? There wasn't any info in the kit instructions.

The sculptor on that kit would be the Japanese sculptor Ryu Ohyama. I try and do a little research on every kit I add to the Gallery and I found that when I added yours. BTW, EXCELLENT !!!!

That's a bomb job dude! Question though. Do all Cyclops have green 'eye' or do they come in blue and brown as well? Is it a gender thang? :?

I got one coming soon and cant wait! 8)

Just chiming in to say if you really love styrene kits, especially the BUILD don't miss out on this one! No flash at all and fits together like the old snap kits with very little seamage. Apparently a lot of thought went into this one. I started mine this weekend and I'm very pleased with it! Don't miss out! 8)
