A member will soon pass.

#1 Post by Otto69 »

Clubhouse member Ian Lawrence, username ILModels, has entered hospice care for cancer according to him from his Facebook account.

He is truly an amazing modeler, almost never letting a box stock model go without substantial modifications via his own designed and 3D printed accessories. He makes the impossible look easy. He also has provided some 3D 'meshes' for free download ( http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/3dprintindex.html ).

Life is just not fair :(.

Oh no. That is sad news :(

I always loved following his builds. I remember an Enterprise he did a few years ago that was just mind blowing.

I have known about Ian's medical situation for some considerable time. It wasn't common knowledge, so I didn't post anything anywhere publicly, while he & I exchanged emails.

The man is a kind-hearted genius, and (with all due respect to everyone else out there) is the most talented modeller I have ever had the good fortune to encounter.

Right, I've been following his posts about his illness on Facebook. I'm no expert but over time it seemed pretty clear it wasn't going well. I salute him for continuing to work on kits until he couldn't anymore, and never complaining. I only mentioned it here in case there were hobby friends who didn't know and who might want to catch up.

His work on the Movin Out van and his work on the Renwal Atomic Cannon were stunning. He is truly a master modeler, though that is damning him with faint praise. He made the difficult look effortless, and the impossible, possible.

I'm sure Ian won't mind, and will understand the kind gesture & intent.

I haven't seen the Facebook posts as I don't "do" the Facebook thing. All I knew was from personal emails.

Control "C" to copy, then should paste as text here. Alternatively, take a screen snip and post as a pic?
