The Other Vampirella....X-plus WIP!

#1 Post by Glusniffer »

I cant remember the last time I did a work in progress but this kit deserves one because its totally boss! Beautifully sculpted and molded. The humidity here in TN. kicked in this weekend and the fish aint biting so I'll be inside working it for awhile. 8)

Fantastic, I have the first one to build but this pose is such a classic. Armchair and popcorn ready, I'll be following your progress!

Cheers,

Cool! That 1st ones a lot of fun also and has its own challenges. But I'm currently enjoying this one. I love a good base and really like painting skulls and bones so this kits made to order! :smokin:

Sup Spike? Happy to have you join my recent adventure! So here's the latest stuff. I'm almost done with the base except for the rib cage. I've completed the name-tag but I'm saving that for later.... 8)

Okey Doke. Got my ribage done and added some details to my skullage so I'm almost there with this awesome base! Just need to add the 'finishing touch'. 8)

Got my special touch added to the base and waiting for it to dry overnight. Should have some finished base pics tomorrow. So I'm moving on to the figure now but I want to give mention to the skulls.
Besides being well sculpted with great detail they're all single pieces with no seams or flash. They're strongly attached to the trees so you can paint them easy.

Again on to the figure. 8)

Well #$#$#$#! This sucks! Ive been using a product called Super Glaze for awhile on other mediums for a couple years now. Its a 2 part resin that self levels and looks like your work is under water or glass. I applied it to the lower part of the base to get a heavy rain effect and it turned out awesome! Sadly the camera wont capture it and makes it look like my colors are all mudded together. DAMN! :cussing:

Image

Sooo. A few more points on building this cool kit. Pay attention to the order of the skull placement. And if you look closely under the 4 skulls in this pic there is another skull face that I missed. You might not see it but its there. Just a heads up for anyone building this in the future.

Image

Again I'm not disapointed with my work, I just cant get a decent shot. :(

Geez Jeff - I assumed the worst given the way you opened this post . . . I.E. - that the glaze hadn't cured or something

Relieved to hear it's just the photography being a bit of a bugger.

Thanks for the updates - looking good my friend - looking good 8)

Yeah, I hate when something looks amazing, but you can't capture it with a camera.
I've been struggling with that on my Kong build. It looks so much better in person, and the pics look glossy and all the subtle colors are washed out.

FWIW - this looks like it's coming along great.

Thanx for the kind words guys! I'm not gonna sweat the small stuff. I know what it looks like. I have ideas to get a better shot but in the meantime back to the bench..... 8)

Got most of the figure together and loving how well it fits so easily. NO flash and minimal clean-up. Nothing but love for this one! :smokin:

Nice flesh shading (and logo colours) Jeff.

That 1st photo looks like it belongs in a Salvador Dalí exhibition :)
