My Metropolis Maschinenmensch (seated)

#1 Post by Dale Stringer »

It’s been an age since I’ve built a kit as I’ve gone into retirement and moved/downsized. This shut me down awhile so I thought I’d try my hand on this one first.

I got a bit heavy handed cutting the base parts from the frets,(they are thick!) so I had to do a bit of sanding and smoothing. Followed by a fine primer….

Thx Steve. Next I assembled the figure but still have the small bits and pieces to install on her. Continued also with a steel coat on the base and chair….

Continued adding connector/isolators etc and the clear footings to the base and the figure. The bottom side of the base could be adapted for lighting wiring. Anyway, assembly and painting continues…

Adjusted the head mounted diodes and added the final ones to the chair. Still thinking about how to paint the raised rings on the clear circle bits….neatly.

Okay, all done ….as far as I can manage..,.some points of note …

1. Awesome kit, really like it.
2. Follow the written instructions properly, especially the sequence of assembly or you will find yourself removing bits mounted earlier.(as I did)
3. Ref. Above, the uprights and lower most ring need to be mounted as per the written instructions, ….installing these 3 pieces was a bit of a juggling act for me…
4. The colour of Maria (Maschinenmensch) is recommended as champagne gold. I went with a gold with more yellow ….her face and body is champagne gold…

No sir, it doesn’t, …I used a pearlescent white on the raised rings, roughly hand painted….Ive seen some builds with the base and chair footings lighted….but not the rings,,.

Not super familiar with the subject matter as I've never been a fan of the movie.
But your build looks good to my eyes.
Glad you had fun with it.
