This frankly sucks. I have ordered a few things from shapeways over the years. They were a pioneer in this area, however with people buying their own printers, and getting savvy in designing things, there's much less of a need for this service.

At least that's my conjecture. And it frankly sucks eggs for those of us who are over a certain age, and have neither the time nor the inclination to try to learn this new technology to do it for ourselves

Hopefully there will be smaller outfits out there that will continue to offer products so that those of us outside of this revolution can have access to have things that we want printed up. 😳

Saw this. Agreed in that it sucks, but they had to see it coming with the speed at which the process advanced.
I too hope that ppl will remain to help out this that are printer-less. 😞

I have been getting emails lately from them that they are still in operation or doing something to keep going. They mentioned bringing in the founders or something.

Manuevo BV from Eindhoven buys the assets of Shapeways BV
Aug. 2024

Manuevo BV, based in Eindhoven, has acquired the assets of the bankrupt Shapeways BV. Shapeways BV was a subsidiary of the American publicly traded Shapeways Holding Inc., which originated in Eindhoven at the Philips LifeStyle Incubator in 2008. Although Shapeways BV was a profitable company and delivered 16 million products to customers worldwide, it was unfortunately dragged into the bankruptcy of the American parent organization in early July.

Manuevo BV was founded by the local management team in collaboration with two former Shapeways co-founders and has raised financing for a restart. Manuevo operates from www.manuevo.com as the brand name and the use of www.shapeways.com are still tied up in the American bankruptcy. Manuevo will mainly focus on B2B customers who need small and medium series of 3D-printed and finished products.

Jules Witte, formerly Plant Manager at Shapeways BV and currently COO of Manuevo, says: “The Eindhoven team has been delivering high-quality parts with personal service for many years, and our customers have missed this service over the past month. Supported by the intention of many of our customers to return, we are pleased that we can make a restart; the unanimously positive responses from our regular customers are heartwarming. The team is particularly motivated to show that we can be independently successful.”
