It was worth watching once.It was three hours cut to 2 by the studio and dumped on streaming. It is the cliff notes of the story, but a fun romp.setting it in the 70's was a good move.

I have nothing to compare this to, since I've never seen the original, but I liked this remake.

I liked the fact is was set in the 1970's, I liked the performances, thought it was well shot and edited.

It does have the usual trope involving a major character played by a child, that fact that the child is usually smarter than all the adults in the room. That aside, It was a fun couple of hours on the weekend that included a scene involving some old Aurora model kits ...

I'm gonna give it a good thumbs up! Not a bad watch for a remake. True mostly to the original despite character swaps, and plot twists but very well filmed and enjoyable. The ending is awesome!
But I also found there was another remake in 2004.

Watched this the other night. You can tell half the story was missing. Maybe when, or if, they release a Blu ray it will be complete. Barlow looked like a cheap knockoff of the Tobe Hooper version.
