My deepest condolences to his family at this time. I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly at wonderfest myself. He was a great asset to this hobby and will be sorely missed. His family will be in my prayers.

Sigh....I am so sorry to hear this...it's heart breaking really.
Aaron was a heck of a nice guy...not just a great painter, but a great person. Over the past few years I had the wonderful chance to get to exchange many e-mails and finally meet him in person at Wonderfest 06.

When I had first read his e-mail explaining his illness, it was very tough to hear. Someone so young, and so kind and considerate. During his illness he seemed to stay strong and believe that he had much more life to fight for. Heck, some fellow members here (Charlie Dunton, John Diaz, Tom Bonaldi, Gabe Perna, Rick Windsor) put together some care packages for him while he was laid up in bed. He loved this hobby so much that he even bought a table that could be rolled over his bed so he could prep models to help pass the time.

Aaron will be truly missed, not only in this hobby as a great painter...but also as my friend. My prayers and sympathies go out to the Thurston family for their loss.

I'm also deeply saddened by this sad news. I knew Aaron mainly from a few of his articles that I proof read for AFM. To leave this earth at 37 is so unfair. Our family sends its condolences to the Thurston family during this time of grief.

Very, very sad. My condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.

He may be gone but I suspect that he won't be forgotten and that is a testament to his ability and character.

I didn't know Aaron personally, but he sounds like a cool person who will be dearly missed by everyone. My condolences go out to his family.

The 'In Memoriam' at the entrance to this site is a very nice tribute to Aaron & I commend the staff here for putting some of his work on display for us to see.

This is heartbreaking news. Aaron was a wonderful and very strong person. During his illness, I spent hours talking with him about Hammer films and other movies, kits and artwork, and how he was gonna be overwhelmed with hugs and handshakes at his next Wonderfest. Basically, I just tried to keep his mind on better things and to make him laugh (Which he often did! But man- his dry wit had me laughing as well.). I wish we talked more as the last time I called he was in hospice. I know many other people reached out to him personaly through out his illness (via Phone, Email, or in person) and I can honestly say that anytime I spoke with Aaron, he always expressed how much he appriciated the well wishes and thoughts. This is so f'in terrible because I know how sad I am right now, but my sorrow must pale in comparison tothat of his wife and family, and those who were able to physically visit him, his very close friends. His illness was so intense and painful, that while it is a relief to know he is no longer in pain, that's the ONLY positive thing that could have come from this. I miss him and my heart does out to anyone else that was lucky enough to have known him.

Rest in peace, Aaron.
Ruhe in Frieden, mein Freund.
Für alles was ich noch gern getan hätte, ist es zu spät.
Ich war zu langsam.
Meine Gedanken waren bei Dir, sind es, und werden es sein.
