I have to ask because I'm surprised...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ALIEN-QUEEN-FULL-SI ... dZViewItem

Check out that price! The money some people have for this hobby. WOW!

I wouldn't pay a quarter of that. What a waste of money - when you think ppl are starving in the world... really makes you think. Plus, when you've seen one Alien - havn't you mostly seen them all - lol?

Well, it's a rare piece (it's not a customized Sideshow bust) and the Queen isn't like any other Alien...

I still wouldn't pay that...unless I had a lot of disposable income. :)

I've seen a lot of picture of this statue and I can tell you it's pure delight.
 But I never knew it would be so expensive!!!
It's pretty insane.

I know how that particular statue was created, and technically it IS a custom using the Sideshow bust (the SS bust was recast and augmented with other parts cast from the Winston molds, all kitbashed together into this beauty). It's a gorgeous piece, but I can tell you the owner didn't pay nearly that much for the original custom.

So maybe you should stop wasting money on buying model kits and paints .... or any kind of hobby either.

About the alien: Every alien movies got a very different design each time (except maybe for Alien IV, AVp 1 &2: ADI stuff  )
So it make me think you pretty don't know what you're talking about bro. :?

Why are you so aggressive? Apart from the Queen Alien, most ppl (who aren't uber fans wouldn't notice the difference between Aliens)
I can think it's a waste of money - it was a fortune! If you don't, then you don't have to - but don't get aggressive with me.
This entire thread was about discussing how over priced it was.

I'm sorry if I sounded aggressive, I didn't mean it that way so accept my apologies.
It's just that this is the kind of BS I keep from hearing from people (like my wife) who can't understand my interest in the modelling hobby.

And I'm a huge fan of the alien concept too.
Of course it's a hell lot of money.
But I guess if I could afford it, I would and of course it would mean I would be rich enough to help fighting starvation worldwide.

No worries. I get what you mean with ppl not understanding the hobby or collections etc. I get grief about it too. I think everyone has their thing though. I had a g/f that had hundreds of pairs of designer shoes - so it's whatever the individual is into :) I think that with anything though, there is that limit of what is too much to spend on any hobby or collection.
Like you said though, if someone has that much money, they can have fun with it and also help ppl out with it as well - I suppose that's still up to the individual, but hopefully they would. It just makes you think, ya know?
Whoever bought the piece must have had a lot of cash to spend it on there collection. Hopefully they're not up to their neck in debt :? - lol.

Anything outside of the basic necessities in life could be seen as excessive and unnecessary especially by many other less fortunate people. To a person who has very little disposable income a $300 or $30,000 kit is one in the same, unobtainable and often therefore ridiculous….

I know what I have paid for many Fewture kits lately and I should have my head examined knowing what these kits originally went for, but I shouldn’t be looked down on as a “crazy money waster” for not getting into the hobby when these kits were easily gained for a fraction of the present day price.

You must always remember that we only think things are excessive or grossly overpriced when they generally exist outside of our own comfort zone, but to the person who has it like that “money wise” it’s just like many of us who buy another $150 kit knowing we have many unbuilt and unfinished kits that should have received our attention many months or years ago…so quiet as kept we are just as “out there” as this particular buyer if you really sat down and analyzed the situation.

Having said that, I prefer to maintain a position of respect for anyone’s right do to as they see fit with their own money because life is about being happy and not allowing anyone else to define your particular happiness.
I don’t think there is one of you that would be in objection to having your finances in a position to be able to acquire all that your heart desired regardless of price…just my take on this post.

Thats a really cool Alien Queen Marquette!

I once saw one listed through MONSTERS IN MOTION that was supposed have been cast from molds made from the original life size Queen Alien that was used in the first movie. It was 16 feet tall, but I don't recall the overall length. The one thing that stuck in my mind though was the $36.000 dollar price tag. I couldn't afford any of those large scale figures even if I wanted one, "Not to mention," where in the heck would you keep something that large. You would need a warehouse. I guess I'll have to be happy with My Thomas Kuntz, Alien Queen "THE BITCH" kit, and a few other small versions of the Queen I have in my collection. I can't say I really need a larger version of the Alien Queen than "THE BITCH" anyhow, its hard enough to find a place to display other kits as it is!

This wasn't a criticism on my part... just an observation. I made the original custom about 3 years ago for a collector and didn't charge anywhere near that for it since, at the time, I did it more for the challenge and the fun than anything. Never thought it would have fetched that kind of money on the secondary market. I feel bad that the auction listing is somewhat misleading though. It certainly wasn't pulled from Stan's molds...

Yeah, seems like someone was taking advantage, and the listing was very misleading.

Ouch!
It must be cool, (judging from the size) hope there where more photos and closeups.
But even if i was an alien i would find a million excuses not to part with so much money to get a 1/4 copy of my mom!! :)

All I can say is when you have 100 million in the bank, spending 14k on anything is peanuts. Its excessive but all relative.
