Finished diorama

A client asked me to make a figure/character sculpt for his friends 50th Birthday. They didn't have much of an idea what they wanted and asked me to come up with something. Here's the result... love to hear your thoughts.

I ended up making a film noir set with the birthday boy as the director, sat in his chair deep in thought. It went down well. Here's the link to the pics in Flickr... I don't know how to post them here, sorry.

Thanks Dennis. Yes he's had it given yesterday. He loved it apparently and all his family think it's a spot on likeness.

That rocks. Beautiful detail and the composition. Is interesting and engaging. I like the round base contrasted with the squared off set. Makes me wonder what this guy is thinking about.

Couple of questions.....

Camera and light are scratch built I assume?

Around what scale is it?

Again. Really well done. Thanks for posting.

Hi Robert thanks for the great compliments.

Camera and lights are scratch built, lights are mainly brass K&S tubing and sheet, cut, formed and soldered except for the 'head' of the lights which is the small Humbrol enamel pots (cleaned back to the metal). Lit using LED's.

The camera is a mix of all sorts of materials including MDF, plastic rod, brass bits and pieces and even super glue which has been blobbed on and set using kicker.

Scale wise its 1/12th, the round base is 500mm diam.

There were loads of things that I thought I should have done it like that or it should have looked different, I learnt a lot making this, realised that soldering brass isn't quite as bad as I thought.

Thanks again.
