DVD already started in that direction a while ago. The bottom has completely fallen out of the DVD market, and Blu-Ray has never really taken off like DVD did in its heyday. Streaming is where it's at these days.resin addict wrote:... and I personally think DVD's will eventually go the way of VHS tapes

Re: May finally make the HDTV plunge, could use advice
If $200 is your ceiling, there's nothing to really "recommend". Just go to the store and buy whatever is available in that price range. At that price range you're essentially looking at bottom of the barrel players and screens, where "Turns On" and "Usually Doesn't Catch Fir...

Lovely work on this piece, and the colors really make it pop! Great to see something this different for a change.

Great work so far on this one! Can't wait to see the finished result.
I'd love to pick one up myself, but GW charges stupids amounts of money for their product. Last gasp of a company circling the drain.

Good god! I had heard this kit was a beast, but I never thought it would be quite that warped.Ant wrote:Couple of bits from mine last time I looked (a few years ago)

Re: How to create "Drool"?
One alternative to fishing line I've seen was from Jordu Schell. He used a product called Fun Fur, which I assume is just a bulk faux-fur product. He had some white fur, and would pull a single strand of hair and use that as his line to apply epoxy to.

Re: Primers for Vinyl kits
Yeah, all you ever want to use on vinyl are lacquer or acrylic based primers, never enamels/oils/alkyds. Make sure you really check the labels on certain products too. Many products are formulated different depending on where they are sold, so just going by the brand name can get you into trouble. I...

Very cool!
Was this a conversion job? Just curious since Wolverine looks uncharacteristically pensive here. Almost looks like he's thoughtfully considering if he should disembowel his foes, or merely behead them.

Brilliant work on the rusty hull! I've got a Nautilus kit myself that I've been pondering for a while now, stuck on how I wanted to the hull to look. This is going to be my template now, I love it!

Big G is definitely looking MASSIVE in this trailer. Like, if he stood straight up the air might be getting thin where his head is in the atmosphere.

I like the patterns. It looks like something that the steggy would use to confuse potential predators, much like some butterflies have patterns that make them look a staring bird to confuse predators.

Re: Moebius "Mars Attacks!"
Well, with the way the body and the head are sculpted now, the head is wider than the collar on the suit, so a single piece helmet wouldn't be able to fit over the head. So they'd either need to have a smaller head, or a wider collar on the body.

Re: painting rocky base
That method really is that easy. I've tried it before on some rocks I cast, and they came out really well. The only addition I made to the method was a little drybrushing for the final step, but even without that they still looked great. A handful of Woodlands Scenics rock molds, and some light hydr...

Re: painting rocky base
Use a bunch of dark greys and dark browns, thinned heavily, work them randomly on the surface to put down the overall color scheme. Spritz some fine dark speckles on for effect. Then go over the whole thing with a dark wash; it'll unify the whole scheme as well as shade the crevices. Then do a dry b...

Re: Base ideas for 1/6 AMT Darth Vader
You could do a Death Star floor and rear wall. Sort of a glossy black floor and the grey wall with those oblong light cutouts. Or maybe a Hoth base, with Vader trudging through the snow. Maybe even add in a back wall that is an entrance door into Echo Base. Or Vader standing on the carbonite freezin...

True, but if you need the flash because that's all the lighting you have, placing a styrofoam cup over the flash acts as a perfect light-diffuser. Cheap as hell, too!RudeDogg1 wrote:need to turn your flash off dude
