Re: Mak valve in air brush opinions HP Highline w/ mac valve

I have an HP-BC2 from 1986 that I still use today and a newisn HP-AH with a MAC valve. It may be habit from not having one all this time, but I never touch it. I have a regulator above the moisture trap that's right at my left hand that I can fine tune if necessary, but since most spraying is one ty...

Re: WIP - Man-o-man this stuff is itty-bitty

When I started sculpting, it was only in 1/35, so I feel your pain. Regarding magnification, for the most part, less is more. The high the mag doesn't necessarily mean better results and you end up with more focal length issues. After trying a few options over the years, including the OptiVisor, I'v...

Re: Hey Fleshy Headed Mutant.

Temps rose above 0F so I could open a window to feed the spraybooth and got some primer on the Mutant.

Very little seam work necessary, next up is the airbrushing.

Re: Brass paint

Vallejo has a good one in their normal lineup, which is just a metallic acrylic, not overly bright. They also have a waterbased version of metallics like Alclad (they need a gloss black primer underneath too), which are excellent, but not as shiny as the lacquer based ones. Might be what you're after.

Re: Cheap Primer options: Pledge / Future question

Just a heads up, for giggles I mixed some old Vallejo Poly primer (thinned) with an equal part Future and shot it on some spare styrene pieces. Went on very wet, which is a good thing, coverage was thin but I made a few passes. An hour after it was nice and tight, wouldn't rub off with my fingertip,...

Re: Cheap Primer options: Pledge / Future question

I'm pretty sure it's Pledge. I started with Future, but the last two were Pledge in the clear squeeze bottle. I can't get a photo of it, I end up pouring it into mason jars and smaller bottles for use. Wide mouth Ball Jars are good for dipping/soaking clear parts and I add it to so many different th...

Re: Cheap Primer options: Pledge / Future question

I've been using it for years and swear by it. From gloss coats, to sealing, to eyes to coating unpainted resin, it never fails. Self leveling, coating and adhering clear parts, I could go on forever... I haven't tried it as a primer, but have sprayed over Vallejo primers to make them sandable and it...

Re: Seams and Texture

Depending on what you are trying to recreate, you could always make a texture stamp of the surrounding area and use putty. Otherwise, just like it makeup, stippling over edges and increasing the area out hides a lot. The old Aurora Mummy has a hideous seal running lengthwise, so I just grabbed some ...

Hey Fleshy Headed Mutant.

Are you a good fleshy mutant, or a bad one? In trying to breaking through a modeling block, I jumped on one of the rescued Aurora MOTM Metaluna Mutants. The sculpt is beautiful (Ray Meyers) and the break down for tooling is top notch. The fit is up there with the best of the figure kits, current or ...

That is the coolest thing I've seen in a while.

I have a bunch of Monster Scene kit, but no Dr Deadly. I guess I need to hunt one down. ;)

I repositioned everything so she's looking at the Monster while on the base.

Just need to tighten up her right iris and then move on to the face.

Re: Moebius Bride Of.

Thanks guys.

Carl, that's a nice tip, covering half the face.

I think I need to set her on the base and see where she's looking compared to the Monster.

Moebius Bride Of.

I royally screwed up my wrist, no sculpting or building for a while, so I pulled the Moebius Bride kit off the shelf since it was assembled and primed already. I started blocking out her face, but am torn on the eyes. I like the terror rook of her left, but I think the smaller size of her right is b...

Back at the Discovery.

I shelved this kit after amassing the ref material and finding all the inaccuracies. I started on the detailing, but got distracted so I moved on to something else. With the new kit coming out, there's no reason not to just build this and stick on the ceiling, out of sight, out of mind. I already ma...

Re: Reaping what I sowed...

Thanks! These are flattish, like a steeping stone. I sculpted it as a partial. I reinforced the concrete with mesh, but wanted to see how they survived over a season before thinking about marketing them (these were designed to fit in a USPS small flat rate box to make them shippable). I did a bunch ...

Reaping what I sowed...

A couple of years ago I cast a bunch of concrete zombie faces and scattered them throughout my yard.

It's starting to pay off now.

Omni made good on the replacement, so I'm good to go.

I started a replacement sculpt in the meantime, just haven't had a chance to get back to it.

Aretha with the Ray Bryant Combo.

Just got this on vinyl.

I have most of her Atlantic recordings, this was the first of her previous work for Columbia.

I had to pull my jaw off the floor. Words can't describe what this 18 year old put down in 1961.

There's a killer blurb on the 'A magnetic new artist'. If they only new.
