Re: '66 Batman Exhibit at Hollywood Museum

Thanks for the heads-up on this. Looks cool, maybe small, but densely packed with a lot of nifty stuff; pics from a blog: https://13thdimension.com/first-look-inside-the-batman-66-museum-exhibit/ & https://13thdimension.com/the-13-grooviest-things-at-the-batman-66-museum-exhibit/ Another thing i...

I almost walked out...and SPOILERS

When they were riding the animals on the casino planet, I almost walked out. This is the 2nd Star Wars movie I've seen when I felt that way. The first was Episode IV Special Edition. After seeing Greedo shoot, after seeing Jabba yack, I almost walked out. It soured Star Wars enough for me that I did...

Re: The Inhumans

I want the "'bad guy" Maximus to win. He wants to lift the "ordinary humans" from their life of bare-handed (no tools!) mining in servitude to the Inhuman elite. I loved watching Crystal, but when she's sneers to Maximus, "You're only human." I was...offended, and she j...

Thrift store finds...

It's hard to find cool things at the use goods/thrift store, you have to regularly visit to find anything, IMHO. But I was able to get The Avengers on Blu-Ray and a DVD of The Empire Strikes back for $6 total. That Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back DVD is particularly interesting to me, because it'...

Great work!

Are you on Flickr? I like Flickr because it's easier to follow people. And faster to load than Photobucket.

Ever tried watching a color movie in black & white instead?

So, I was doing a little reading on Logan (which I loved), and noted that the director is contemplating a black and white cut of the movie for the home release, similar to the Black & Chrome edition of Mad Max Fury Road. Wait, what? Black & Chrome? I didn't know this was a thing, did you? If...

Re: Logan . . . March 3rd 2017 (but a lot later for HIM)

I only paid $6.50 for my matinee ticket, but I got $24.99 worth of entertainment. I loved Logan, it emotionally resonated with me on a lot of levels - caring of an elderly parent, middle-aged body doesn't perform as well, working toward a long-term dream goal (like a boat or house) and getting stymi...

Valley Con TOMORROW MARCH 5th Petersen Museum Los Angeles!

https://valleycon.wordpress.com/ The museum is an awesome, classy venue, and sci-fi fantasy subjects are welcomed and encouraged! I'm not affiliated with Valley Con or the Pasadena Modeler's Club, but I am bringing a bunch of model kits to sell at a vendor table at the show. I am planning a big blow...

Re: Mad Model Party Is Coming Back

I'd like to hear interesting stories. I was planning to attend (and vend) at Mad Model Party 2017. I got my vendor table money back, but I'm out a non-refundable $170 for the hotel room. I guess I might as well go...anything interesting going on in Simi Valley that weekend? I told one of my acquaint...

Re: LEGO 'BATMAN'

If you're an old Batman aficionado, there's plenty of references to very vintage stuff that'll keep you amused. The entire history of Batman is touched on, something kids can't fully appreciate.

While I've always loved Anne Hathaway, I have also suspected she is a monster. I hope this is entertaining.

Re: Star Wars - Rogue One

R2 and 3PO were shown when the fleet is leaving. The rebellious actions of the Rogue One group are supposed to be the catalyst for the Rebellion to take action, I suppose, like the way the 300 in the Battle of Thermopylae inspired the Greeks to action? The thugs from Episode IV's cantina scene (Pond...

Re: Star Wars - Rogue One

Good movie, but not perfect, not even great, for me. Don't get me wrong, it's good - if this is the future of Star Wars, I'm definitely in and will watch them all on opening weekend. But c'mon, just because you love something or someone doesn't mean you can't find something in them you'd like to fix...

Starship Troopers faithful to the book

I'd be interested in a live-action reboot of Starship Troopers more faithful to the tone and spirit of the book. I didn't like Verhoeven's Nazi-inspired uniforms or the comic-booky adventure tone of the film.

Re: The babadook

Maybe along the way to becoming a cynical, pragmatic adult, I lost belief in supernatural things, like monsters and faeries. I can still appreciate the art in creating those things, and understand the allegories they represent, maybe that's why I liked The Babadook. You could take it literally, as p...

Re: The babadook

This was my Halloween night movie and I loved it. There's no safety net, you never know, even at the end, if the monster of the movie is supernatural or mental illness. Quite disquieting and truly horrifying, because mental illness is real, not a fantasy creation of masterful makeup and convincing c...

Southern California Gundam Model Competition Nov. 14th

Southern California Gundam Model Competition on November 14th in Fullerton, California . As the name implies, the emphasis is on Gundam robot models, but they welcome pretty much anything for show and sharing - anime character figure kits, Star Wars/Star Trek ships, etc. These are guys that invaded...
