JPG Models - Bossk's Hounds Tooth

#1 Post by kevtk135 »

For those who haven't taken their deep dive into Star Wars, Bossk was the "LizardMan" alongside the other bounty hunters in The Empire Strikes Back.

From JPG's Facebook pages :
"The Hounds Tooth, or YV-666, is the Bounty Hunter Bossk’s ship. As seen in various video games and comic books, the most popular being Shadows of the Empire.

Scale is 1:144 to compliment the other .JPG Productions ships, The Outrider, and the Moldy Crow. This line of “Underworld ships” will continue with other future additions.

Consisting of 9 resin cast and 3D printed parts, plus stainless steel mounting rods for the wings, the FX-7 measures ~12” (30.5cm) high and ~ 9.5" (24cm) wide wingspan, ~2” (5cm) wide main body."

Almost too easy to put together.

Image

My first oops was trying to get this pour plug off. I leaned on the saw too hard and snapped the whole end of the ship off.
:2guns: Thankfully it went back together easily and after a little patching on the other side, no one will notice...

Image

Had to put a little color on, and take a look.

Image

The provided metal rods puts the 2 halves of the ship together.

More next time. Thanks for looking.

The next session I started painting all the little details. I also filled some bubbles that I saw in the previous image.
Image

All the ship now has a primer coat.
Image

To add details on the ship, I finally got to use Aztek Dummy's masks that just simulate different panels - -

Image

Then to go overboard, I added more panels in different colors. Don't worry, a mist coat will smooth everything out. ;)

Getting close to finishing. Thanks for looking.

That is looking pretty good.
Looks like a well engineered kit too.
Seems like you are having fun with it, which is the most important part.

Thanks! Yes, it’s a pleasure when a kit almost falls together out of the box.

Thanks. The pattern is all thanks to Lou Dalmasso of Aztek Dummy. He has a really cool YouTube channel too. Search under Lou Dalmasso. ;)

This entry is something like 2 or 3 sessions. First thing was to sit the design down a little with a mist coat.

Image

Next was the gloss and the decals. Thankfully they were very thin, but pretty strong else I would have lost the teeth decal on top.

Image

Then there was a ton of weathering. There was a lot of open panels, and I saw it as not really taken cared of - but not really busted up either. Finally the flat coat all over, and black glossing the windows finished it off. Thanks for looking.

Thanks.
I haven't really followed any stories on it. But I'm going to guess they wanted a sort of "flying Sandcrawler." But I could be completely wrong. ;)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.

Looks pretty cool though, and the paint looks great!

Now that's cool! Love what you did with it.
