Monarch models

The Monarch Fly and Konga are only sold in Japan? Over 100 bucks for each kit is absolutely absurd.

Nope.
The tooling is still being worked on. Still doing test shots and tweaks. At least that is the status of the Fly as of last week when Monarch posted some pics.
I doubt Konga is that far along at this point.

Either a scam seller, or someone trying to make big bucks on presales.

They will both be available here in the states, whenever they are done.
Cult even has them listed for presale. No pricing info as of yet, because, as I said, the tooling isn't even ready yet.

I've seen a few of the "advanced" photos of the Konga kit, and I'm kinda' hoping they'll tweak the sculpt to make it look less like a stylized gorilla and more like what Konga was--a guy in a relatively cheap gorilla suit. I doubt that will happen, but...

1) Thanks for bringing this up! I saw them listed on eBay and couldn't figure out what was going on. I don't like dealing with styrene models, but I just have to have those two.

2) I don't think any sculptor on earth could do justice to the guy in the gorilla suit. That movie was so bad, the guy didn't even try moving like a gorilla. He looked like one of your uncles had a bit too much to imbibe at a party and put on a gorilla suit before wobbling all over the place. Just like "The Attack Of The 50-Foot Woman", the model is much, much better than the movie.....

So are the prices most people here in the U.S.A. ask for Moebius and Playing Mantis to name a few injection molded styrene kits that are mass produced. The kits are out on the market for just a few years and people think they have a real classic AURORA kit that is 50 years old, or at least they jack the prices up like they have thinking they have hoping to find a sucker who will pay their high asking prices.
I just laugh when someone actually purchases some of these kits and say to myself ---->

I wish Pegasus... get there act there act together why did they buy Moebius..?
reissue a few things then pull the plug.. There is no direction with Pegasus..
I don't care if they were moving.. this has been going on for years with stagnate releases.
At least with Frank, he was hands on..

I wish I had the same "blind faith" in Monarch that everyone else has. (Remembering why a sealed Gorgo is worthless because it probably has parts issues.) I will believe it when I see it as far as these two releases finally seeing the light of day. Hope all the parts are there! :)

Right there with you Scott.
I love their kits, but I don't hold my breath waiting for their release. When they do come out, I grab them, but until then, I just leave them off the radar completely. No sense expending any energy on it, it will happen when it happens.

Scuzz - at least Pegasus gives us some reissues. Moebius was gonna close one way or another. Frank was done with it. Better to have someone reissue some kits every now and then, than they be lost forever.

It's strange that Frank of Doll & Hobby.. is re-releasing the hunchback and few others?
Why...? As you said he wanted quit. yet he's reissuing this kit for 11 time?

Those are releases from Doll & Hobby Georgia, which is CultTVman's company. Frank sold that business as well.

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

I too will be patiently waiting for Monarch to release The Fly. I have my preorder in with CultTVMan. If it never releases, so be it. If it does release, what great surprise it will be!!
