Aurora Monsters Re-pop Question.....

#1 Post by Glusniffer »

My son was in Books a Million today and texted me a pic of King Kong and Godzilla kits issued by Atlantis. They were the same glow in the dark art square box kits from the early 70's that I had when I was a kid and with pics of the build-ups on the back. Awesome but at 32.99 each I had to pass..... :x I have the Polar Lights/Playing Mantis kits from 20 years ago. Are these new issues or something I just missed? And are these two the only ones from the original thirteen? :?

Atlantis now owns a bunch of original Aurora molds. In addition to the King Kong and Godzilla, Atlantis has recently issued the Forgotten Prisoner and Phantom of the Opera.

Meanwhile, CultTVman is about to reissue the Hunchback under the Doll and Hobby Georgia banner, using the molds Polar Lights reverse-engineered.

Any idea which monster molds they have?

In addition to what's on the market, they seem to at least have Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf Man and Mummy. But Universal's prohibitive licensing costs made Atlantis back off reissuing those, from what I can tell.

Oooh, Phantom of the Opera. That's one of the Aurora kits I could never find back in the 60s, so I've never built one.
The older I get, the better it was.
