Kit Question.. 1965 Revell Phantom...
This Phantom. Atlantis re-pop.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylMVvzQrrII
Instructions and box say 1965. Name plate says 2016. Yeah again re-pop by Atlantis. I'm interested in the history of this kit because I never saw it growing up until this goofy kid up the block had one ( minus the witch-doc ) and asked me to paint it for him.
So any info?

Not too sure exactly what type of info you're looking for but:
1. According to Scalemates it was, as you say, first issued in 1965 with two types of boxes. I've only seen the standard model box version.
2. Came in white plastic.
3. I never saw I either as a kid. For Revell figure kits, it was common knowledge amongst kids that the parts count would be minimal and the price a bit more than your standard Aurora kit. This followed that trend.
4, Distribution was probably spotty and given the subject matter, probably not a lot were manufactured.

1. Two Boxes Huh?
2. This is molded in a hideous Prince purple.
3. Yeah. In my almost 20 years hanging here I've never seen one posted. And yes very minimal parts. 18 to be exact. The Phantom and witch doctor are two front and back pieces split down the middle making assembly and clean up a bitch.
4. Yeah an obscure character I guess for its time. Kinda like the Shadow. But its a really cool kit and a real challenge so far.
Thanx again!

Re: Kit Question.. 1965 Revell Phantom...
The Phantom started in the newspapers back in the 1930's and was still going in the 60s when the kit came out. In addition to this, the character was appearing in Gold Key Comics when the kit came out.
Two front and back pieces? This was a familiar format for Revell figure kits - e.g. The Phantom; The Beatles; Rat Fink; Bonanza etc. Two piece figures were also part of car kits too. Club de Mer comes to mind.

It’s not a bad kit I have the old and the new I bashed the new one I turned his head and changed his arms so he is pointing one of his 1911’s I was going to make a diorama eventually wish I could show a pic but it’s all packed up I did get a scale wolf to add but it was not ferocious looking and I was on the fence about bashing it maybe .

Re: Kit Question.. 1965 Revell Phantom...
Thanx again for the input guys. Pretty much what I wanted to know. Yeah, a really cool kit. My only disapointment is lack of a good base. the plastic armymen base is a letdown.
