That seems to be an unusual subject for a styrene kit, but a great find if you're interested in it. I wonder if it sold well enough for Superior Plastics to recover their production costs.
I have no idea. But the old Statue of Liberty kit, which I believe dates from the same time, has been reissued numerous times; I'm sure it's paid for itself by now. The Taj Mahal, ehhhh, probably not.

The kit actually has provisions for lighting! They recommend using a lamp socket with a very small bulb, lest you accidentally melt it. (!!!!)

A friend took a couple pics of the kit at the last IPMS meeting, so, thanks to him, I can show you what it looks like. Great box art!
That styrene almost appears to have a pearlescent quality to it in those photos. It looks like a nicely detailed kit for the scale. Nice score!
The older I get, the better it was.

It is definitely pearlescent, which is pretty cool. Of course, if I ever built it I'd have to worry about how (or whether) to paint it--but I think I can safely say that that day is a long way off ;)

With the sad news from Monarch, I bought a GITD Ghost of Castle Mare. Should probably squirrel away a couple other Monarch kits for the future.

I went for it and bought a set of the 4 'Repulsives' reissues kits off ebay. Very small kits but I like the old styrene kits that I never had, or frequently never even knew existed, so it's ok. Although they might have had a curse on them. After receiving them, I broke my ankle in mid-December and probably won't be allowed to walk for another month yet. And my faithful friend and companion of 9.5 years, my dog, bit my grandson (very light scratches, fortunately, although he has punched holes in some of us in the past). After a bittersweet month's reprieve, my daughter and I took him to the vet and had him euthanized to prevent future harm to any other grandkids. He had a lot of 'second chances' over the years and this was his last chance. I will be crying once in a while for my lost friend for quite a long time, and I miss him very much.

Sorry to hear about that. :(

My only recent purchase was another reissue of the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
So, now I have 14 reissues to go with my one original.

brucebishoputah Man sorry to hear about the ankle and dog.

YA the HAWK reissue kits are small I have a sling ray curvette and she stands 5 inches tops. I'm bash'n her into a bikini.
Not really my thing but It was another junk shop find and cheap so I picked it up a few years ago.
popped it open a few weeks ago and work on it as I go.

I did order a pair of the dracula/hyde monarch kits one pair, since the shipping was a whopping 2 bux more for a pair.
waiting on them to make it down south. Customs will be the delay since I'm about 3 hours south from Ontario.

Also Ordered my 1st resin Kit from a board member the Cylon Centurion from JackShield that showed up today.
I know not styrene but I'm stoked since it's 1/6 scale. and will fit right in with my custom 1/6 figures.

I picked up a Monarch square-box Glow Ghost at my LHS today. I got a set of the 4 Repulsives a while back and built all 4- have to get some pic and post them soon. They are small but were fun to build.

Scooke123 - since you have built the repulsives already and until I can get downstairs to my supplies I won't be able to build mine, just how small are they built up? it seems to me from only looking at the parts that they will only be 2-3 inches tall. is that correct?

Yea - 2-4 inches tall. Plastic is kinda soft too making it hard to cleanup well. Arms and legs don't fit very well either. They are fun simple and quick to build though and you can paint them any colors you like.

A bunch of cool kits being bought, that's for sure.

Good to know the built kit size on the Repulsives. If I can get my wife to look for my tool and glue box, i think I will try assembling my set. If I get them built I will ask her to bring up my paint box.

They are fun, easy kits to build - really look good too when painted.
