Drive-In Scenes, new figure coming late 2021/early 2022

#1 Post by Todd P. »

Thought I'd introduce these here, even though they're resin kits. I hope they'll appeal to the styrene crowd. These are the Drive-In Scenes and will roll out this month. Two more are coming as soon as I can get them molded. I hope to have all available in early autumn, my favorite season for modeling.

First up, THE GRIM ONE. Sculpted by Joe Simon, this 1/13-scale kit (a little less than 6 inches) and his companions are designed to complement your Aurora Monster Scenes. The arms are attached with a magnet, making them posable.

Next, Graf Orlok, our hobby's beloved Nosferatu. I know it's a stretch including this character in a drive-in-oriented series, but Wikipedia tells me the first one opened in 1915 so it's possible the movie was shown at a drive-in before it was removed from distribution for plagiarizing Bram Stoker.

Also 1/13 scale and designed to stand alongside the Monster Scenes, this vampire comes with two sets of arms attached with magnets.

Here's a photo of both alongside the Monster Scenes Frankenstein from Moebius/Dencomm. They're standing on the Morbid Mausoleum, a base I sculpted myself and will include as an offering in the series.

I'll show pics of the last two figures -- London After Midnight and the Twice-Told Bride -- after I get them molded. All will be priced as attractively as I can manage.

I really like these.
And I do agree, these probably belong in here, more than in the Garage.
While they are resin, they are a compliment to the MS kits, and I usually post those add-ons here too.

I just have to get some money scrounged up. Between these, and that plant coming from Prehistorix I've got some goodies to buy.

Thanks, Trevor. I'm hoping people won't have to scrounge up TOO much for these kits. Absolute most I can see selling the figures for is $40 and shipping will be inexpensive because I can send them first class. I just need to work out a few details to finalize everything.

You know how it goes. My shopping list is so much bigger than my wallet
It's always a balancing act. Which kits do I want most when money is available.
I will be adding these to my collection. Just a matter of right when they are released or a little farther into production.

Yep, no pressure. I know all about that shopping list dilemma.

Meet Sylvia, the TWICE-TOLD BRIDE, who enjoys the final evening of her life ... 38 years after she died. Too bad it couldn't last.

Figure sculpted by Joe Simon, this 1/13 scale beauty is made to stand proudly next to the Aurora Monster Scenes kits. She's the third of four kits introducing the Drive-In Scenes series.

This lovely lady is headed to Mike Rutherford for painting. I expect to make the kit available this month.

Now that looks like one I'm gonna have to get 2 of, so I can build both versions.

The head changes out. Actually, that's probably going to be the hardest part for builders; the faces kind of "nest" into the neck. A pin would help keep it more stable.

And here's the Man in the Beaver Hat from London After Midnight. He'll come with a lantern once I get that from Joe.

Nice!

I know I'm gonna end up getting all 4 eventually.
But you definitely saved the best 2 for last. At least for my tastes.

I hope you do well with these, because I'd love to see what you come up with if the line turns out profitable.

Groovy! Just let me know when you're ready for it, Denis. In the meantime, I'll get a set weighed so I know how much international shipping will run.
