Monarch unveils its Konga sculpture
Lots of work to do before this one might be available to styrene lovers, but I'm excited. Michael Berglund sculpted it.

He definitly nailed the likness and a cool scene from the movie
Travelers to unknown regions would be well-advised to take along the family dog. He could just save you from entering the wrong gate.

Re: Monarch unveils its Konga sculpture
Much better looking than the movie.. I wonder though if one the will reissue some there kits?\
And two will there cyclops come out this year/
I'm very surprised there coming out with anything at all?
And problem with china on going ..
They should subcontract production to Atlantis..

Re: Monarch unveils its Konga sculpture
I believe the Cyclops is indefinitely back-burnered. The other possibility this year from Monarch is the Fly. As always, I don't expect to see them until they're in my hands.
Scott McKillop has told me he's never going to reissue any of his past kits. I don't know the odds of him changing his mind. He's not really in this to make money.

I love everything Scott does, but it happens when it happens. And that can be years away. I don't get my hopes up about anything until I actually see it for sale (not presale) from reputable dealers.

Re: Monarch unveils its Konga sculpture
Just looked at the pics and wasn't all that interested at first until I looked harder. This looks to be a really well made styrene kit. The more I looked the more I liked it. Those figures (human) are really well done. May just have to pick one of these up!

This prototype is 3d printed. If he prints them to order, he could eliminate the need for China's injection molding at a factory. Don't know if that is financially viable option, but it seems like it would be. I know it is cheaper to 3D print items (if you have a printer) than it is to pay someone to resin cast. So, avoiding factories, minimum order amounts, freight and just hitting a print button might be easier.

Re: Monarch unveils its Konga sculpture
3d print resin is more expensive than casting resin. You also have to add in the cost of failed prints, and other 3d print consumables like vats/films, and isopropyl alchohol. For really tiny "production runs" it might make financial sense, but the numbers quickly fall apart when quantities go up at all.Anton Phibes wrote:This prototype is 3d printed. Re: Monarch unveils its Konga sculpture
Well, that being the case: I suppose we can indeed expect a long wait. Rats. Covid hasn't put the world back to normal yet (if it ever was), and I remember how long the factory in China hem hawed around with Monarch's previous efforts. I am actually more excited for THE FLY. Believe it or not...I have never seen KONGA, lol. I wish someone would do a styrene Wasp Woman in Aurora. Or even an Aurora scaled resin. She's an overlooked monsterress.Todd P. wrote:The plan is to tool him for styrene production.

Full on Monster look like in the film. I think someone made a poster art kit. Dr. Lady had a mask some years ago. It was killer.

That'd be fun. Would be a nice companion piece to the Fly. Hmmm.....

Re: Monarch unveils its Konga sculpture
Kit looks great, as does the Fly. I’m excited that Scott still has the itch to put out kits!
