Cow
Here is another old kit that I recently built.
This is a Bachmann model from 1959. Bachmann is known for their train hobby. But they did enter into the model kit hobby. The "Cow and Calf” model is from the "Animals of the World" series. Bachmann also did "Birds of the World" and "Dogs..."
For this kit I filled in all the recessed painting guide lines. Airbrushed and dry brushed using Testors enamels. For the base I added grass made from Aves Apoxie Sculpt and Scenic greenery. The nameplate was added, made from Apoxie Sculpt also.
This model hasn't been available since the 60's. Maybe someday some company will reissue this and the other animal kits.
Enjoy!

This is terrific Ken. You've clearly put a lot of thought and work into it.
The sculpts on these Bachmann kits are terrific. I particularly like their "Americana" series (Bowlers; Junior League; and Fisher Boy). They're incredibly well sculpted and detailed.
Is that a Revell Alfred E Neuman box in the background? I'd love to see your take on that one...

Re: Cow
I saw this in the gallery and thought it was kind of odd, but cool.
Seeing it here with a bit of narrative is better.
I love seeing these old gems, there was such an odd assortment of kits available back in the day.
Anyway, great work, and thanks for sharing.

I plan on building the MAD kit later this year. It will be nothing like you ever seen.Aurora 484 wrote:This is terrific Ken. You've clearly put a lot of thought and work into it.

Re: Cow
Thanks for the kind words all!
Hope to have more of these old kits built to show in the near future.
It’s not often you get to see buildups of them.
I’ll be posting them to the GALLERY too.
Thanks all!
Enjoy!

Re: Cow
Now this kit is definitely in the *out of the ordinary* category, and I like it. Nice job on it!
It reminds me of when I was young and Aurora put out the animal line - black bear, bison and a few other.
Very cool!

Re: Cow
Nice job on the cow and calf! I like your label you made with the rodeo rope script. My first model I ever built, when I was 6 years old, was the Cocker Spaniel from Bachmann's Dogs of the World Series.
