Metaluna Mutant

#1 Post by veedubb67 »

When Atlantis Models first announced this kit, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it and picked one up at WonderFest!

From the 1955 movie 'This Island Earth' I present the Metaluna Mutant.

First thing I did was reposition the head and resculpted the jaw/neck so he isn't looking down so much. Painted with AV acrylics and weathered with oils. The eyes were painted with color-shifting paints and the veins were hand painted. Also outlined every vein with a blue wash. Claws and feet were painted with ComArt transparent acrylics and gloss coated.

Unfortunately the lights washed out a lot of the weathering details.

Nice! Love what you did with it.

Cool. I was wondering when someone was going to post build pics.
Looks great. Those claws look awesome. Eyes too. Great paint job.

I have mine all glued, gap-filled, sanded, and ready to be primered. Gonna work on him this fall.
