Has anyone purchased one yet? I'm looking for good acrylic metallic colors to use on her from dark to the silver/copper/bronze that the original was painted. Any suggestions?

Hi there,

This is a superb build review of the kit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ-iZc4wFII

It has lots of advice on assembly, metallic colours as well as lighting the base. Very cool, I am certainly tempted to get one!

Cheers,
Paul

Wow. Having skimmed that video I'm very glad I didn't buy the kit. At that scale, for that price, I would have expected at least slightly better fit of parts, but more importantly I would have expected the parts to be in gold or silver plastic.

I am liking the kit. One of the irritating parts is the way the larger parts are connected to the sprue. I forgot to take a picture of it because I wanted to email X-Plus and complain and ask why they did that. Did anyone take a pic of the attachment and can I get a copy? A friend told me Tamiya kits are attached like this but I don't have any Tamiya kits to check it out. Thanks.

Undergating is very popular in Japanese kits, and is especially useful in kits that have parts that are to be plated. I usually use a sanding stick to sand parts that are gated on the side, so I don't have any issue sanding the underside of a part - same thing. I imagine that in the future X-plus will release plated versions of the kit as well, and undergating will certainly be appropriate for that...

Rebwares, thanks for the information. There are a couple of pieces of the robot where the seam is between two "fins" so to speak. Puttying and sanding that small area seam is a bit of a challenge. Guess you can say it helps you problem solve and grow as a modeler.

A one hour kit to paint one can of silver spray your choice and you done.
It's just that easy.
